Few doctrines have generated more discussion among Christians than election and predestination. In this episode, we carefully study Ephesians 1:3–5 and seek to let the Bible speak for itself.
Rather than approaching this passage with a theological agenda, we’ll examine what Paul actually says about God’s eternal purpose, His spiritual blessings in Christ, and the Father’s love for His children. We’ll discuss the biblical doctrines of election and predestination, consider God’s gracious invitation to all through the gospel, and reflect on how these truths should lead us to worship rather than division.
Along the way, we’ll explore what it means to bless God, the spiritual blessings believers have received in Christ, and why salvation results in holiness, adoption into God’s family, and peace with God.
Whether you’ve wrestled with these doctrines for years or are studying Ephesians for the first time, my prayer is that this episode helps you understand God’s Word more clearly and love the Lord Jesus Christ more deeply.
