Bible Verses for Better Living episodes

  • Finding Peace - Luke 14 - 27
In this episode you and I explore the real message in Luke 14:27.

    In Luke 14:27, we’re promised:

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

You hear the verse, you hear me share guidance on the real message of the passage, and again you hear the verse as you’re invited to really, really feel God’s word in your heart and body.

In addition, you’re guided through a simple, but powerful way to create an image of Jesus within. Anytime you need to feel peace, you can recreate in your mind’s eye that image and allow a deep feeling of peace and wellbeing to flow through your mind and body.

  • How to Be Courages in the Face of Criticism
How to Be Courages in the Face of Criticism

Host: Stephen Carter, CEO of Stress Solutions, LLC.

    In Deuteronomy 31:6, we’re told,

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Anytime you speak your truth, there will be those who are quick to criticize. Unfortunately, many of your loudest critics are family members, supposed friends, and co-workers.

While a few critics may have your best interests at heart - they don’t for example want you to fail - most criticize you because they want you be a certain way.

They want you to be the person they believe you to be. Any deviation creates alarm bells that lead them to try and “rein you in”, to get you back to the way they believe you are or should be. In short, they want to control you.

In Deuteronomy 31:6, you’re promised that God will be with you when you’re strong and courageous. You’re encouraged to “speak your truth”, to be the person God intended you to be.

Allow your courage to lead you and God will be with you.

  • Let Us Not Grow Weary of Doing Good - Galatians 6-9
In this episode you hear God’s word about persistence from Galatians 6:9:

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."

We then discuss the famous quote from Calvin Coolidge about persistence and how it supports God’s wisdom as shared in Galatians 6:9.

    Calvin Coolidge’s quote:

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

You’re invited to again listen to Galatians 6:9, but with this second reading you’re asked to really listen with your heart to God’s wisdom and then to meditate on how you can put His wisdom to work in your own life.

  • God is Our Refuge and Strength - Psalm 46: 1-3
Psalm 46:1–3: "God is Our Refuge and Strength"

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”

While the words of this Psalm speak of physical catastrophe, they can apply to our emotional catastrophes and storms as well. Knowing God is with us in our hours of darkness can give us strength to survive and even thrive in the face of adversity.

It is vital to reach out to God through prayer and accept His promise offered in this Psalm.

Re-read the Psalm allowing the words to energize your mind, body, spirit and heart. Feel the words and rejoice in their power.

  • Don't Let Fear Control You Psalm 27:1
    In Psalm 27:1, we hear:

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

    What is the underlying message?

When we trust the Lord, when we give ourselves to Him, when we commit to the Lord in deep and total faith, there is nothing of or on this earth we need to fear.

I encourage you to listen to God’s word a second time, but this second time I encourage you to listen with your heart, listen with your body, let the message resonate in your heart. It is then you will truly feel the power and be comforted in the truth of His word.

  • Do You Suffer From Anxiety? Philippians 4:6
Do You Suffer With Anxiety? Guidance Through Philippians 4:6 - Episode 2 Show Notes

Do you suffer with anxiety? Has worry taken up permanent residence in your daily life?

We all suffer from anxiety and worry from time to time. For some of us, anxiety and worry are constant companions.

There are multiple Biblical passages to help us navigate through and release anxiety that often comes with the challenging waters we call life. One of these is found in Philippians 4:6, New American Standard Bible (NASB):

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

This passage offers the implicit promise we have the capability to be, “anxious for nothing”.

How? By asking God for what we want. In this case, we want peace of mind and emotional wellbeing.

How do we ask God for what we want? With prayer and supplication; “…let your requests be made known to God”.

We’re told to have “thanksgiving”. Thanksgiving for what? Thanksgiving for God’s grace. Thanksgiving for the benefits your prayers will bring.

Listen / read again Philippians 4:6, but this time allow the energy of God’s word to be felt through your entire body and to resonate in your heart:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Really FEEL the truth of God’s word in your body, mind, and spirit. Place your hands on your heart and allow the truth of His word to resonate in your heart.

I invite you to share this episode with family members and friends you believe can benefit from hearing God’s word and bringing the wisdom and positive energy of His word into their lives.

I would love to hear how God’s word is guiding your life. Email me at [email protected] and share your testimony.

    Here is Psalm 34:4-5:

“I sought the Lord, and He answered me,
