God has planted, redeemed, reconciled and given us His Spirit that we would fulfill His pirposed of Glorying Him, by bearing much friut. He will prune and purge us, as we abide in Him, being obedient and wholly given unto pleasing Him, doing His will.

He said that He would purge Jerusalem of the blood. This would be like cleansing it of all the innocent blood that was spilled, such as Abel and that of His saints. Remember whoever sheds man blood, his blood must be shed unless atoned for by the Blood of Jesus.

In studying restoration we find that Jesus acknowledges the Pharisaical teaching on the coming of Elijah but veer away from their interpretation and application of it. John completed his mission on the restoration of all things, but we don't have the full scope of that teaching or just what John preached.

We see a separation of the wheat from the chaff, as God's Word accomplishes its purpose. There will be divisions which were a shake-up of what the people assume what would happen. This was another assumption they had of a Messiah that was bringing in peace, accordingly to all of the old testament scriptures.

We have to realize the Holy Spirit is a person that can be grieved, it's the third person of the GodHead. We can grieve or quench the spirit from burning red hot in us. Just as the Laodiceans grew lukewarm, without realizing it was their thinking, attitude, and disposition which had blinded them, to not see as Samson and Saul that the spirit's fire was out, or being quenched.

The people where to be cleansed from their filth through the Spirit of judgment and Spirit of Burning. The same fire which melted and destroyed the branches, would also refine and purify the remnant. It is through their faith in Jesus and the Grace of God, that He prepares them to glorify Him by their trial of fire.

God will kindle a fire in the believers -Holy Spirit- to purify them, and in the unbeliever that will lead to destruction. The same fire of burning is also the spirit of judgment that will come in that day. The fuel for believers will be the word of God, whereas unbelievers will be storing up wrath unto destruction. He will cleanse away all filth from His people.

The branch here being described may be the people of God whom He is pruning and cultivating to populate this earth with those made in His image and likeness, It sounds like encouragement in what God is trying to accomplish in them. After He refines us in the furnace of affliction we come out glorifying Him.

Christ said He's the vine and we are the branches, so if we abide in Him while God the Husbandman prunes and chastens us, we will produce much fruit. But if we get entangle in this world's affairs, and the cares of this life choke the life from us we will become weak. If we become detached from the vine men then case us into the fire.
