As a regular Christian church attender, there can be the impression that when someone says they have had a “bad experience” with their past church, it was likely that either a member called them out for a sin they didn’t want to hear about, or snubbed them in some other way. Or perhaps the music was not to their liking, or the Pastor did not smile at them when they neglected to attend last Wednesday night’s fellowship dinner. Whatever the reason, often it is based on a personal slight the reality of which happens both inside and outside the brick-and-mortar church.
As Biblical Christians, we need to recognize that there are many who have become disenfranchised with the “church” for very good reasons as they see us function like the rest of the world, or worse.
1 John 1:8 - If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
However, recognizing there are bad apples undermining the credibily and testimony of the Christian church does not offer any excuse for the behavior.

Our nation is polarized on many levels. One aspect can be found within the Christian church. The continued deterioration in attendance (see post) over the past 30 years has, as we all know, leaped in its impact following the pandemic. As church leaders see both a financial and spiritual crisis looming, many have chosen polar opposite approaches as a solution. On one side are the pastors attempting to placate their congregations by becoming inclusive, watering down, ignoring, or downright rejecting Biblical theology on controversial subjects such as sin, Hell, abortion, marriage, and homosexuality. On the other side of the spectrum are those leaders who hold fast to Biblical Christian traditional theology from the pulpit. Many suggest this latter group is either brave or foolish for this stubborn determination to preach and teach God's truth. I would respectfully offer an opposite counterpoint to that position.
However, there are those who sincerely believe the Bible speaks differently to them in these controversial areas and, as such, with good conscience, accept and teach theology that is non-traditional. In the end, on the other side of the grave, we will all find perfect truth. What is infinitely more important than one's decision on controversial topics... is salvation. If we have a personal relationship with Christ and are born-again, there will be ample opportunity to discuss secondary theological issues with the One who wrote them.
Regardless of your theology in all the hot-button topics of the day... pastors and church leaders... preach and teach in a way your flock finds Heaven. All the rest is secondary.

The June issue of AMA’s “Journal of Ethics” offered a strong defense for transgender biological men to “consolidate their identities” with the ability to have children. Though the article states that there have been no documented successful transplants to date, the procedure is seen to be reasonable under their Hippocratic Oath. The article further postulates that government funds should be made available for these surgeries, since insurance companies may be slow to adopt coverage in this area, due to its cost, efficacy, and controversies. The AMA article ends with, “the case could be made that no moral obstacle stands in the way of justifying subsidies for UTx (uterine transplants) for some transwomen and transmen…”.
Perhaps some Christians have strong feelings on the subject of transgender surgery, in all its forms. Perhaps medical and financial resources could be utilized in other ways for the betterment of society and the furtherance of an eternal-based message. However, as Biblical Christians, we do not need to be looking for fights that distract from our testimony. We need to keep the main thing the main thing… Christ and Him crucified for our sins.
Matters of Heaven and Hell should take precedence over the earthly.

If humanity was rooted in a supernaturally accepted view of morality, then a clean separation between church and state would seem appropriate. The framers of the Constitution desired boundaries to protect their religious beliefs from government intrusion (Church/State). Of course today, the loudest voices are focused the other way around, desiring to isolate the government from the supposed tyranny of a Biblical Christian worldview (Secularization is good for American democracy).
As Biblical Christians, we need to hold fast to our faith (Hebrews 10:23), yet show grace and love to those who oppose our worldview (1 Corinthians 13). Scripture is clear that if we are in the end-times we need to be prepared and, if we are not, the pendulum will eventually swing back toward a more peaceful expression of our differences.

I recently reviewed an article, written by someone who referred to himself as a "Jesus follower, getting back to my faith". Surprisingly, he choose to use John 10:28-29 as Scriptural proof-text, supporting a rejection of the church.
haps even more significantly we need to pass our theology through the lens of the whole context of Scripture and be discerning readers when confronted with interpretations that clearly conflict with traditional Biblical principles. God is unchanging regardless of how mankind wishes to reinterpret Him based on current cultural preferences.

All who believe God exists tend to focus on His love and forgiveness. Some choose to ignore the Bible as they clamor to keep up with society’s definition of right and wrong. Others, Biblical Christians, stand for Biblical teachings on law and order, abortion, homosexuality, etc. Both groups correctly agree that Jesus preached on loving God and our neighbor as the ideal. Both groups desire and believe they are headed to Heaven, whether it be based on their works or based on their faith.

A reader offered the thought that, “Revelation assumes a strict dichotomy between good people and bad people, with no people in between.”
I offered the view that the dichotomy he is referring to is represented throughout the Bible, not just in its last book. In fact, the “strict dichotomy between good and bad people” is the basis of Biblical Christianity beginning with Lucifer in Heaven, through sinless Adam who ultimately is thrown from the garden, to mankind’s sin nature on earth.

The pandemic impacted the church, as it did all social interaction. It forced the faithful to disconnect from intimate fellowship, teaching, and accountability with fellow Christians and God Himself. It accelerated “deconstructionism”, the establishment of an anemic form of Christianity. It offered a pathway and a rationalization to form new, bad habits on Sunday mornings, underpinning a departure from our closeness with the living God. These trends have been forming for decades, COVID just aggravated them.
There are many reasons for this trend. One of which may be God closing out this old world of ours to bring in the New Heaven and the New Earth. However, as Biblical Christians, we need to recognize that deconstruction and the internet church are not going to bring about a God-centered awakening. We need to get back into the habit of physical attendance on Sunday mornings. We need to reestablish our participation in Bible studies, prayer, regular reading of God’s word, and, all other disciplines that draw us back toward a holy and loving God. Further, we need to show our sons and daughters where our priorities lie. Otherwise, we will be the generation that witnesses a future Gallup poll that drops BELOW 50% of those who believe in the existence of Hell, Satan, angels, Heaven, and, even God Himself.

Who is God
God is all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere, sovereign, and the creator of all things. We are His children, made in His image but woefully lacking in the attributes just mentioned. One of the greatest fallacies of mankind is the statement, “there is no God”. To make that claim, one would have to be all-knowing, and who on this earth could make that claim?

When Jesus offers the command to love our neighbor as ourselves, He is not only asking us to be kind to others, He is also reminding us of our selfishness.
Mark 12:30-31 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
After all, God is love (1 John 4:8), and, when presented with His definition, we clearly fall short, but still see the target to point toward.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
