Romans 4:9-10 Is this blessing then only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? For we say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness. How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised. 

Abraham was justified by his faith, not by his obedience. Paul proves this simply by referencing Genesis 15:16, where God made promises of grace, and Abraham relied on God's word with childlike faith. God asked for nothing more, and Abraham had nothing else to offer. His trust in God was enough for him to be accepted and favored by God.

Abraham was justified by faith, not by being circumcised. This means that wherever faith is present, God accepts the sinner, regardless of nationality, rituals, or church privileges. If faith saves a person, then it must save everyone who has it. Abraham was justified as soon as he believed, not when he was circumcised. Abraham could become the father of all who believe – Gentiles as well as Jews. All come to God on the same basis: faith. This is a spotlight on the Scripture

Dr. Carl Ellis Jr. once said “A disciple is someone in the process of learning to obey all things Christ commands. Saints Jesus said in Luke 6:46  “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Outward obedience is the necessary result and the ultimate test of an inner spiritual life. Only those who do the will of God will enter the kingdom of heaven. This doesn't refer to someone who accidentally does God's will because it matches their own desires, but to someone who intentionally follows God's will, regardless of whether it is pleasant or not. Such obedience involves action in practical details of life, not just intention or profession. True religion is about living out faith in daily life, which is challenging and requires God's power.

An artist's work reflects their unique style; similarly, a true Christian reflects God's work. Salvation means being aligned with God's will, and a good person is filled with the Holy Spirit, which compels them to do God's will.

Outward obedience can also be the instrument of inner spiritual growth. My husband always says, that when someone sincerely sets out to follow God's will, their first experience is often recognizing their failure and sin. This leads to a deeper understanding of their need for God's help, driving them to depend on Jesus for salvation. True spiritual growth involves acknowledging one's helplessness and relying on God's grace for strength and transformation. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 

This verse has often been misunderstood and misused at funerals to imply that the deceased didn't understand much in life but now understands everything in heaven. That's not what Paul meant. He's saying that there are things in life that we can't see or hear, and we can't understand them by thinking alone. We can't find God through our efforts. The things God has prepared for those who love Him can't be discovered through seeing, hearing, or reasoning. So, how can we understand them?

”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. Though God has revealed to us his inspired, written Word, believers need the Spirit’s illumination to help us supernaturally learn, grasp, and apply the things of God. This is a spotlight on the Scripture

Forgiveness breaks the bitter chains of pride, self-pity, and vengeance that lead to despair, alienation, broken relationships, and loss of joy.” John MacArthur. This week decided to no longer credit an offense against an offender with a view to executing personal vengeance. Listen, there are two basic categories of forgiveness; 1 Unilateral forgiveness which is the decision to release someone from an offense who is either unable or unwilling to repent in order that the offended person is set free. Give to the Lord that situation in which someone misunderstood you, misread your motives, hurt you, or sinned against you. Forgive the people involved if that’s needed, and rest your case with God, realizing that he knows your heart. The second category of forgiveness is Transactional forgiveness. 2 Chronicles 6: 5-6, Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there, and I chose no man as prince over my people Israel; but I have chosen Jerusalem that my name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’ 

God chose Jerusalem to be the center and capital of the earth. He decided it would be the place for the temple and picked David to be the king, and now one of David's descendants. This was God's decision.

Beloved our choices are often different from God's. For example, we wouldn't have chosen Jerusalem. Let’s be real, we would have picked Samaria, where Ahab and Jezebel lived. Samaria has a beautiful view in every direction: the Mediterranean Sea to the west, the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee to the east, Jerusalem to the south, and Mount Hermon to the north. 

But God didn't ask for my opinion or yours.  He chose Jerusalem because that was His will. God said, "I have chosen Jerusalem."

 Saints, God has a will for each of us. I believe God has a specific place for us to live.  And where you are to today is where you supposed to be.   The challenge is to align ourselves with God's will. Instead of debating free will and God's sovereignty, it's more fruitful to find the place God has chosen for us. When we're in that spot, we're in the right place. God's will is what matters.

God chose Jerusalem, and God chose David. And God chose you. This is a spotlight on the Scripture
