The BPG boys have had a bit of a rethink and decided it might be a smart idea to focus on video games on a video game podcast! Crazy idea, we know but it was time to acknowledge that lately we've had less focus that an Ole Gunnar Solskjaer team talk.

We discuss the bizarre state of current releases with big hitters like Battlefield 2042 and GTA Trilogy coming out full of bugs and receiving a fan backlash. Not everything is bad news though because both Warren and Andy have thoroughly enjoyed the Halo Infinite open beta.

This week we give Forza Horizon 5 a review and it's safe to say a good time was had by all! We do also stick to the BPG ethos of older (and fully patched) games that offer good value for money with Russ dipping into some Hitman 2. Andy and Warren will also attempt to get him out of his gaming funk with a £10 bargain bucket challenge.

Episode 31 - The big reveal from Russ this week as it turns out he's been the subject of a celebrity make over. Warren enters rage mode yet again over the parental politics of kids football. Hopefully that is an added feature in FIFA 23.

There's a strange mix of games played this week with Andy giving NieR:Automata a go and Warren takes on something massive (and in true BPG style, not particularly current) with Red Dead Redemption 2.

Matt joins the boys this week to take the gaming chat in a different direction with not a pixel in sight. It turns out you can play a different type of game that involves having to interact with actual other people..... board games!

Episode 30 - Warren is over the 'rona and Russ is back from Dubai to bring the trio back together. Russ discovered a little holiday gem with a Pandoras Box arcade machine but had his experience ruined by cling on kids who are yet to learn the basics of gaming etiquette.

We discuss the new Switch OLED and the upcoming release of the remastered GTA Trilogy. Are either worth it or are they just corporate cash ins?

Something that all gamer dad's go through is 'the gaming lull' where you just aren't feeling it. Russ is there so the boys try and drag him out of the dark hole and back into the wonderful world of make believe that is video games.

Episode 29 - Contain your excitement listeners, we have a special guest this week. Matt makes a return to bring the player count up to 4 for some genuine co-op action and in a bizarre twist for this podcast, brings some actual credibility. Who'd have thought it?

The boys discuss the weird and somewhat tragic release of eFootball and the inevitable consequence of taking the easy option and buying FIFA instead. The Battlefield 2042 beta has also been on the consoles this week and Andy is on attempt number 482 of trying to get though Hades...... still.

Episode 28 - Russ 'The Terminator' Peacock is drowning in the lava so Andy and Warren soldier on without him. The boys have been to a free to play arcade and been overwhelmed by excitement and too much choice! Needless to say, a good time was had by all.

With the annual releases of FIFA and PES (we will not call it eFootball) due for imminent release, we discuss the pros and cons of each and the cash cows they have become. You'll also be forgiven for thinking David Beckham makes a guest appearance on this episode!

Episode 27 - The boys are going quality over quantity with plans to move to fortnightly episodes. Despite best efforts to sell the kids on eBay and convince their employers to pay them without having to go to work, real life continues to get in the way of gaming and part time podcasting!

This episode we focus on the amazing achievements of Russ and his knee busting efforts to raise money for his daughter. It looked like a good idea on paper to run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours but turns out it was really bloody hard!

Bigger breaks between episodes means more games to talk about! Hades, Super Lucky's Tale, Aliens Fireteam and Last Stop are just a handful of what the boys have spent their precious gaming hours on.

Episode 26 - This week Russ goes against the 'Big Plate' ethos of finding value for money in older games and buys something brand bloody new! He's only gone and paid full price for Aliens Fireteam Elite so is it all that he hoped for? Warren has checked out the Riders Republic Beta and Andy continues to play any random shit he can download for free.

The console focus this week is a look back at the biggest selling games machine of all time, the PlayStation 2. From Vice City to Ratchet and Clank, God of War to Burnout, the boys try and remember some of the classics. Also, for reasons only he will know, Andy confesses to being one of the 12 people who bought an Eye Toy.

Episode 25 - THE BOYS ARE BACK! After a bit of time off, all 3 of the BPG boys return from general Dad duties and trying to survive the 6 week endurance test that all parents can sympathise with in the summer.

All rested and refreshed, the boys have some quality content this week with gaming chat covering Hades, Art of Rally, 12 Minutes and Back 4 Blood. Russ is counting down to Aliens Fireteam and we all have our fingers crossed for him that is isn't utter shite!

The console focus this week moves to the king of the handhelds with the boys putting their dirty green tinted glasses on to reminisce about the Game Boy. Go and rummage through the random draw of crap in your kitchen for some AA batteries and fire up some Tetris one last time!

They say the best things come in small packages, so the BPG team deliver with a slightly shorter episode than usual. Andy returns from his holiday, exchanging the baton with Warren who's off to lift heavy weights and pretend to read books in France. Russ remains the consistent and discusses the madness that is sleepovers with his kids!! We even managed to squeeze in some gaming chat!!

Episdoe 23 - With Andy away and leaving his house prime pickings for local burglars, Russ and Warren pull it out of the bag with BPG's first ever special guest!

In an unusual turn of events for this podcast, Matt brings some actual credibility as an industry insider who actually makes games for a living. Russ and Warren take this as the perfect excuse to blame the poor guy for everything wrong in the gaming industry and rant about all those things that make controllers hurtle towards screens all over the world!
