While many see Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer, it’s also a time to pause and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives serving our country and protecting our freedoms. Ranger Chris is talking all things Memorial Day weekend...from hometown parades and community events to the true meaning behind the holiday itself.

Ranger Chris talks with Mountain Mary about the annual State College Moving-Out Treasure Hunt — when Penn State students leave couches, lamps, mini fridges, and somehow perfectly good furniture sitting at the curb like it’s a free department store. Turns out… one person’s “I don’t wanna carry this down three flights of stairs” is another person’s SIDE HUSTLE. They dive into the weird, wild, and surprisingly profitable world of move-out recycling. Is it trash? Is it treasure? You decide. 

Warm weather is finally here. Are you still stubbornly opening windows and pretending 80 degrees inside the house “isn’t that bad”? Roni Lyn from WOWY Radio stopped by to chat with Ranger Chris about when is it acceptable to finally turn on the air conditioning.  

Holly Oxendale and Kristin Macafee stopped by to talk about the upcoming Remembrance Ruck Challenge — a powerful community fundraiser supporting Tides and honoring loved ones we’ve lost. Inspired by the life and legacy of Centre County community member Dale Miller, the event brings people together to walk, remember, and support those navigating grief. Holly and Kristin shared how participants can carry a name, photo, or memory along the route while raising awareness and funds for Tides’ compassionate grief support programs. The event is being organized by members of the Leadership Centre County Class of 2026. 

Ranger Chris highlights One Night on Broadway, happening Monday, May 18th at the Playhouse Theatre. The special evening features performances from alumni and special guests, bringing the excitement of Broadway to the local stage. Guests can enjoy pre-show cocktails outside the theatre, explore designer displays in the lobby, and experience an unforgettable night of music, performance, and community celebration.
