As you've seen, Season 3 is dedicated to my father, Mike Jacox, who passed away late in 2021. I Love and miss you, Dad.
Today, we get the opportunity to speak with Bill Inman, who helps early-stage companies launch & scale/enterprises to innovate & increase margins. Additionally, he is a blockchain patent holder focusing on emerging tech and business model Innovation. Bill was a 5th generation California kid who grew up without a father, as he took his own life at 15. He was raised by his mother and talked about how growing up in a diverse neighborhood taught him so much about relationships that he would later share in raising his daughter.
Not only did Bill and I discuss diversity and inclusion, but we talked about youth sports and the challenges that our kids are facing each day. Bill's daughter was a standout volleyball player who would play Division 1. She never specialized and was able to play multiple sports to keep her well-rounded. He shared his guidance and experience around the word perseverance and reminded all of us dads that raising kids is a "marathon and not a sprint."
One of my favorite parts of this episode was us diving into the power of listening! Additionally, I loved how Bill was always there to volunteer his time as a dad to stay present!
