First off this week is a recap of The Great American Eclipse because SCIENCE. Then we’re looking at Night Vale’s first Citizen Spotlight, featuring a character who is entirely fictional. More so than usual we mean.

After that we look at the first episode of Marvel’s Defenders and talk about what we like (“WRONG NUMBER”) and what we hate (shut UP, Danny!)Read OnBinary System Podcast #94: Eclipse recap and WTNV #112 “Citizen Spotlight”

Time for the season finale of Alice Isn’t Dead! As you can tell from the title, things get a little introspective and quickly turn very grim. We got to hear how Kesha met Alice (randomly), how they fell in love (quirkily and sweetly and not at all what Kesha had planned), and then how maybe, just maybe, it all might have been a lie.

Then Kathryn lightens the mood by talking about a very fun Board Games Night (if you’re curious, the games were Snake Oil, Codenames, and Mysterium, which you really need to try), and Elizabeth talks about how her hand-drawn Tarot deck is coming along, and did you know there’s a database of different Tarot decks?Read OnBinary System Podcast #93: Alice Isn’t Dead #10 “Why Am I Alive?”

This week’s episode of Night Vale was less of an episode and more of a little present for everybody who’s been a fan of the show since the beginning. We got the Dog Park, Dana Cardinal, Khoshekh, the lights above the Arby’s, Carlos’ perfect hair, and angels. And lightbulbs. (sniff) (We’re not crying you’re crying.)

After that there was just time enough to talk Twin Peaks, Agatha Heterodyne Girl Genius, Dylan Marron’s new podcast, and the final issue of Transformers Till All Are One.Read OnBinary System Podcast #92: WTNV #111 – Summer 2017, Night Vale, USA

So SDCC didn’t throw us as far behind as we were afraid (thanks for the hiatus, Welcome to Night Vale!) but we still have two episodes of Alice Isn’t Dead to catch up on: “Absent Family” (we never did figure out the title) and “Prey” (we most definitely know who’s being preyed on).Read OnBinary System Podcast #91: Alice Isn’t Dead #8 and #9

It’s the San Diego Comic-Con 2017 wrap up! And we’re TIRED.

Join the twins and Official Binary System Photographer Captain Slack (otherwise known as Kathryn’s husband Nathan) as we kick back the Sunday night after Comic-Con, a little goofy from sensory overload and possible some saké, and discuss the cosplay, the celebrity (sort of) sightings, the events we saw, the stuff we bought, and the crowds we survived.

This week Welcome to Night Vale demonstrated once again that they don’t understand the meaning of the word “hiatus” because they gave us both an excerpt from the upcoming Night Vale book It Devours, AND a teaser for the new “Conversations With People Who Hate Me” podcast. This brings up one of the few times that the twins come down on opposite sides of an issue, because Kathryn likes to read the comment threads of news articles to find the rare moments of intelligent discussion and well-worded viewpoints, and Elizabeth doesn’t because she thinks they’re cesspits of humanity.

After that they nerd out about Saga for a bit (the cover to issue 44 is all kinds of neat) and then spell out their plans for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con! They’ll both be there, along with Official Binary System Photographer Captain Slack (otherwise known as Kathryn’s husband Nathan) to do some interviews, take a pile of photos, and report back on Nerd Mecca. This week Binary System recaps two episodes of Alice Isn’t Dead in record time and that’s it! We’re all caught up with podcasts! And in one week San Diego Comic-Con takes over our lives and we’re going to get totally behind again. Enjoy the moment while it lasts…

Of course while trying to do a recap we go off on tangents about people who mine wikipedia for the best stuff, and about what a modern day oracle would look like (they probably wouldn’t be wearing greek robes in a cave, most likely a hoodie in an abandoned van) and about why you can’t eat the oranges on the ASU campus.Read OnBinary System Podcast #88 – The Alice Isn’t Dead catch-up episode (…part 2)
