  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – The Matrix Retrospective w/ Jack Falvey and Alyx Ancira: The Matrix Reloaded (2003)
In 2003, The Matrix was king. Four years following its global phenomenon stamping run in theaters, hype was mounting to the highest degree for The Wachowskis' long in development two follow-ups, both of which were due in the Star Wars-less year of 2003. Producer Joel Silver was in eight page magazine articles proclaiming what his two filmmakers have up their sleeves will once again blow everyone's minds. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss were tight lipped about where their characters could possibly go after reaching the heights of the first film. And 'Larry Fish' Laurence Fishburne was...apparently eating at the buffet table in anticipation.

Once the first of those two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded, was finally released in May of 2003, a whole film going community became completely divided, with most on the side of asking where everything went wrong. But where do the three hosts of this podcast stand?

Listen as fights ensue, and long winded monologues & onscreen fights are psychoanalyzed. Was the film overhyped, or is it just an underrated blockbuster? And were we actually looking forward to the third film (which we review next week) when it was over? Listen below to find out!

  • Binge SportsCast: NCAA Federal Charges, NJ & DET Tailgate Recap, NFL Week 3 Roundup
    Drinks are a flowin' tonight!

Things get started with the breaking news (at the time of recording) that the FBI has charged 10 individuals in money funneling allegations.  Is this a big surprise to anyone?  The bigger surprise is that it dropped without anyone knowing.  Should college players be paid like professionals?  If so, how?

After some minor MLB discussion, the guys discuss their NFL gameday experiences at the MIAvsNYJ and ATLvsDET games before diving in to another crazy week of the NFL.  Are the Lions the poster child for bad officiating in the NFL or is it just bad rules?

Who is for real thus far this season?  Atlanta, who could very well be 1-2?  NE, who was a 30 yard TD catch from also being 1-2?  Or is there a 1-2 team that will make a push?  The Jekyll and Hyde factor is even more prevalent this week.  We wrap up with some fantasy talk before getting into the Week 5 picks.

Keep an eye out for the Binge Sportscast on a weekly basis through the NFL season!

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – The Matrix Retrospective w/ Alyx Ancira and Jack Falvey: The Animatrix (2003)
After a couple weeks of scheduling mix-ups from us when it came to The Matrix series, Jack, Alyx, and myself have finally shown up to record our look at The Animatrix, the world expanding set of 8 anime films based on the Wachowskis original 1999 vision of The Matrix.

Reviewing anime was a first for The Aftertaste, so all of us go into our thoughts and history with the genre. We then delve into the sometimes simple, other times dense stories The Animatrix have to tell. Listen to hear which ones we liked, which ones we didn't, and if they really worked at building our anticipation for those sequels. The first of which, The Matrix Reloaded, will get reviewed next week.

So strap yourselves in and join us on our adventures with The Kid and Bi6637. Don't recognize those names? Well then watch the movie first you dicks.

  • Binge SportsCast: TM’s Back! MLB talks, NFL Week 2 Roundup, and did we mention SOUNDERS!
Did you miss us?  It's only been a week, but the Binge SportsCast is back with a brand new episode.  Where's TM been and what kind of shenanigans has he been getting in to?

After some catching up, the boys jump right into it with a quick recap of the MLB over the last several weeks, ramping up for the playoffs.  Who's in and who's got some work to do.  Will the historic Cleveland Indians win streak be good for them in the long run and will Giancarlo Stanton get to 60 HRs?  College football is discussed by PJ, while TM justifies his disinterest via Sounder!  A quick recap of TM's thoughts on the NFL season thus far, how he feels about his boy Jay Cutty, and which teams surprised him in that first week.

Around the League is a new segment with another new Sounder!  Week 2 of the NFL was a much better watch, yet there was still some brutal play by a handful of teams.  Are the Lions legit, or do the Giants just suck that much ass?  We give our predictions and picks for week 3 and maybe, just maybe, another sounder pops up.  Keep an eye out on twitter this weekend... TM and PJ will be sharing some Tailgate and Gametime tweets from our respective teams!

Keep an eye out for the Binge Sportscast on a weekly basis through the NFL season!

Check out our boy  Jay Cutler and his Hail Mary attempt... it's glorious

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – JJ Abrams, Frank Vincent, Darren Aronofsky & Mother Review
As you can see, this space is not taken up with the second part of our Matrix Retrospective. The reason for that is outlined in this podcast. But truth be told, we didn't want to go another week without giving you guys something to listen to. So me, Alyx, and Episode IV decided to put a little something that we call a potpourri of topics, just like the old days of this show.

Lately, I have grown accustomed to producing a fully edited podcast that I like to make as professional as possible. But for this Aftertaste, I decided to keep it very, VERY raw. No editing of 'uhs' and 'ums'. No long drawn out intros. No bloopers. Just us talking, analyzing, and yelling at each other, all things that listeners of the site are no doubt accustomed to.

We weren't sure how the show was going to go, or if it would even be interesting. But I think we have a pretty decent discussion here. We begin the show by talking about the hiring of JJ Abrams in the fallout of finding a director for Episode IX. Note: This was recorded BEFORE the ridiculous petition was started by 'fans' to get him off the film. So, none of that is discussed here. But we all do share our views on what putting him in charge of concluding the new trilogy could mean for Star Wars as a whole.

We then talk about the life and career of the late Frank Vincent. An actor who had done plenty of film, tv, and even video game work all the way up until his death a couple weeks ago, Vincent certainly ran the gamut of a variety filled career, and we try our best to dissect said career in a span of ten or so minutes.

We then talk about the career of Darren Aronofsky, and I give my thoughts on one of the weirdest received films of our time, Mother. What did I think coming out of the film, and which side of the fence am I on? Also, do Episode IV and Alyx even care about what I have to say about the film?

All that and more in this forty plus minutes of discussion and drinking. Be sure to stay tuned to this space, because we will indeed be posting the second part of The Matrix Retrospective (and to those who forgot where we were at -cough, Alyx, cough cough- that's The Animatrix) THIS Friday.

So listen to our thoughts on these pieces of news, and see you again on Friday!

  • BingeCast: American Vandal, South Park, The House, and Quote Whores
Again, there's a little bit of an echo for a couple seconds at the beginning and after the pee break but otherwise things are pretty smooth this week. Not sure about next week because I'm planning on throwing my laptop into an active volcano at some point. I'll watch it burn before editing for another 3 hours.

Ammon and PJ The Intern join Law as they frolic through some new television (South Park, American Vandal, Mr. Mercedes, American Horror Story, Ballers, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath) and a couple movies here and there (The House, Annabelle: Creation) all while answering soome Google Voice and playing a double header of BingeCast Quote Whores.

0:00:00-It's time to light it up.

0:02:06-Law, Ammon, and PJ. How did PJ get his intern name? Have Ammon and PJ conversed before? Nope. This is a cherry popping podcast! BingeSportscast stuff. Sport. What are all the cocksuckers drinkin'? C. Bum segment? Sure, why the fuck not. Ammon explains the Bingecast edition of Quote Whores.

0:18:40-GOOGLE VOICE. Law explains there's some issues going into it.

    0:37:33-QUOTE WHORES: BINGECAST EDITION

0:54:20-TV ROUND UP. PJ begins with The Handmaid's Tale, The Leftovers, South Park, and Ballers. The boys talk about shows that may have gone on too fucking long. PJ brings up Survivor, which Law fifes over. Ammon is gearing up for This is Us. Law discusses Mr. Mercedes, Scientology, Rick and Morty, Ray Donovan, and Laci Peterson. Ammon has Preacher and AHS: Cult.

    1:45:15-Quick recap of technical difficulties.

1:50:45-QUOTE WHORES: BINGECAST EDITION ROUND 2

2:15:26-PJ watched The Room (for the first time!) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Law viewed The House. Ammon talks MoviePass, then shifts to Annabelle: Creation (which he watched part of), Despicable Me 3, and a rewatch of The Lego Batman Movie. Law forgot to bring up American Vandal earlier so him and PJ dick-scuss it.

    See what I did there?

Get the fuck out of here.
