We’ve been in love with Banshee since episode 1, so Law and I are pumped to add the show to our TV Round Up commentary roster.  We start with the second episode because we drank a lot and forgot about the season premiere.  Not missing much since the first episode was basically a recap of season 1.  This episode kicks into gear with nakedness, fighty-ness and cow heads in a jacuzzi.  The tribe of Moreno’s are pissed.

Ever wish there was a show that discusses the brilliance of Meryl Streep, the awfulness of Stallone and De Niro, and the mystery of Bronies all during the same beer? Look no further. Ammon, Moreno, and Law kick things off with a quick look at the Oscar nominations. Who’s a lock? Who should have been nominated? Blah, blah blah. Then we tackle a couple great Google Voice transcriptions, check in with Banshee, Justified, and True Detective in TV Round-Up, and head straight to this week’s reviews.

Law and Moreno are divided on HER but unite in their hatred of GRUDGE MATCH. Moreno spills a little more love for CBGB while Law more or less enjoys all of THE HOBBIT 2, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, WALTER MITTY, and IN A WORLD. Ammon checks out the Oscar nominated, THE HUNT, Asylum’s BATTLE DOGS (buy it here!), PARADISE, ABOUT TIME, and BRONIES, the documentary about grown dudes that love My Little Pony (buy it here!).

Then, to make this even longer (drunker) we all pick our most anticipated films of the upcoming year. Among the names mentioned are GODZILLA, VERONICA MARS, Christopher Nolan, Ben Affleck, fucking monkey movies, LEGO, and all sorts of X-MEN.

Fucking Kupka and I dust off the podcast cobwebs to bring you the first Binge Music Cast of 2014.  Since it’s so early in the year and there hasn’t been a whole lot of new albums released, we tried something different here by reviewing last year’s punk inspired, “CBGB“, a film that chronicles the legendary club and all the now famous acts that started there.  One of the bands featured in the film is called, Television, a band that neither fucking Kupka or myself had heard of, so we follow the film review with a review of the band’s debut album, Marquee Moon.

We’ve been toying with the idea of doing a “First Listen” show in which we pick an album we’ve never heard, give it a few spins then review it.  So we thought combining the film review with the Marquee Moon review would be a good jumping off point.  Hopefully you dig it.  We also throw out some ideas for future theme shows including Best Debut Albums, Favorite Concert Moments, and Music to Get Blown To.  Maybe not that last one.

After taking 3 weeks off, AMERICAN HORROR STORY COVEN is back with an all new episode called “The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks”. As you probably guessed, this is the highly-anticipated Stevie Nicks guest-starring episode. But beyond seeing Stevie, and a few unexpected (and drastic) deaths, this one is more or less a bore for Ammon and Kupka. For an episode that packs a surprising amount of shit into it, it still manages to feel slow and tedious to sit through. Hence, a reason to sit around drink with us while checking it out. When life gives you boring TV… you poor yourself a stiff drink!

Law and Ammon love Matthew McConaughey and Mark Wahlberg and have no reason to hide it. This fact comes out in spades as the boys review LONE SURVIVOR and DALLAS BUYERS CLUB during this week’s Binge Cast. To make things interesting they also thrown in reviews of AMERICAN HUSTLE, THE COUNSELOR, PRISONERS, BLACKFISH, ZODIAC, and a revisit of WRECK-IT RALPH.

Once in a while we stumble upon a conversation that resembles lightening in a bottle. What starts out as a fine mixture of praise and ridicule for Kathryn Bigelow’s “futuristic” thriller turns into something incredible. The Squid Rig takes command of our attention at some point during the show and doesn’t let go until we’ve exhausted every ridiculous option it could be used for. There’s the deep, deep underground market. The mainstream professional athlete market. And of course the porn market. Imagine sitting at home and being able to be the quarterback in the Superbowl, bang your favorite adult film star, and be the ass end of a human centipede all in one night. We look into all of these options and many more. Join us.

We hope you want a lot of movie reviews to end out your 2013 because Law, Ammon, and Moreno have watched a ton of stuff for this week’s show.

Ammon reviews WHITE HOUSE DOWN, FROZEN, KINGS OF SUMMER (with Moreno), and re-visits MOMENTO. Moreno checks out FRUITVALE STATION and 2 GUNS. And Law takes in THE BUTLER, RUNNER RUNNER, DON JON, OUT OF THE FURNACE, and ANCHORMAN 2. At least one of these films squeaks it’s way into one of our Top Ten of the Year lists, which will air in a couple weeks.

That’s not all either: Ammon has started season one of GAME OF THRONES and tries to decipher one of the worst Google Voice messages of all time. Movie Homework for next week will be BIG ASS SPIDER and this week’s MH (STRANGE DAYS) will be up on New Year’s Day.

What a goddamn year for music.  Anyone who says that there’s no “good music” anymore isn’t looking hard enough.  We broke out of our musical shells with the advent of Spotify and have been turned onto artists that we normally wouldn’t have heard otherwise.  And turns out, quite a few of those bands made both my and fucking Kupka’s top ten albums of the year.

We had some crossovers that placed in different spots on our lists, and one of my favorite bands of all time that I completely missed on the list.

We’re gearing up for Christmas and wanted to feature a more unconventional holiday film for Movie Homework.  While Trading Places has a Christmas element to it, it does play for a great backdrop and leads to one of Ammon’s favorite moments in the film: drunk as fuck Santa.

We break down what we like and don’t like, marvel at young Jamie Lee Curtis’ boobs, and Ammon convinces me that this is a better movie than I remembered, although still not a HUGE fan.
