We are just over 20 episodes deep into this new venture that we call BingeMedia.net and we couldn’t be more stoked about the response and support you guys have given us over the past couple of months.  Stoked?  What am I, a fucking surfer from the 70s?

Seriously, we were all a part of something in our past lives, and nearly ALL of you followed us into this new life that we call The Binge Cast.  So fucking thank you and shit.  Stop asking us to be appreciative already!

In the beginning, we didn’t want the new Binge Cast to be the same ol’ same ol’ that you were used to hearing, and we definitely didn’t want to lose one of the most important components to our show:   the listeners.  So, we established a Google Voice mailbox, sent out the number, and you responded.  But something happened.  The Google Voice translator?  Is an ASSHOLE.  Getting things all wrong and shit.  It’s quickly become one of our favorite segments we’ve ever done, and now we have the listeners calling in with some of the most creative ways to fuck with the Google Voice translators.

For this episode, we took all of the Google Voice messages we’ve received from the Binge Cast listeners and compiled it into a “Best of“.  Cocky right?  To call it a best of? Fuck off.  We hear from guys who played our own shows against us, people who threaten to hunt us down if we drop off the face of the Earf again, and old time listeners phone in and wonder if we broke up like The Fugees and shit.  We’re 20 episodes deep, and we’ll see you for another 20 more.  And beyond.

This could be the fightiest podcast Jim Law and I have ever recorded.  Is it a coincidence that it’s also the drunkest podcast we’ve ever recorded?  Mind your business, how about that?  Law and I break down the good, the bad and the ugly that is Pacific Rim.  And if there ever was a time for a mediator, Jax calls in and gives his two cents on the movie, and how Law is so Canadian-y.

We also hit up another round of Google VoiceFail in which Google talks about penises, and we pick our team for the “Law vs Moreno” street fight championship.  It’s like Step Up but way drunker and less dancier.

You know what’s underrated?  Having the freedom to produce your own content and publish it whenever the hell you want.  I’m beyond excited that Binge Media is launching another podcast, but this time tackling one of my first loves:  Music.  Movies and TV and books and origami are great and all, but music is and has always been my favorite form of artistic expression.  That, and body painting.

We’ve joined forces with Kupka from the Reels, Racks, Records and Rants podcast to start this bad bitch off, and we have what we think is a pretty solid first show that should give you an idea of how we’re looking to shape and mold this podcast.  Because of the internet and the music business in general, it’s increasingly difficult to keep up with new bands and the like since the field is wide open.  Our mission is to expose the Binge Media audience to some new bands or albums you may not have heard yet this year.  And also, we’re hoping that you guys might have some recommendations for us too.

Each podcast we’ll create a playlist on Spotify of everything we talk about, so that you can join us in discovering new, cool shit.  Not only new shit, but any reference to a song, we’ll also throw on there.  Yes, we bring up Wham! in this episode.  This first episode.  Thanks Kupka.  If you don’t have a Spotify account, we’ll also be updating our YouTube channel with the playlist as well, so make sure to subscribe.  We’re trying to make this nice and easy for you goddammit!

We asked for more voicemail – you delivered. This is honestly becoming my favorite part of the show at this point. Google Voice is drunk once again and delivering ridiculously awesome transcriptions of your messages. We read them all and listen to the actual messages afterward to try and find out what in the hell is going on.

After an hour of that nonsense, Law reviews TRANCE and COTTAGE COUNTRY. One of them is his favorite movie of the year so far. Hint: It’s not COTTAGE COUNTRY.

Before we go there’s talk of the arrival of PACIFIC RIM, it’s cheap knock-off ATLANTIC RIM, and a short lived obsession with SHARKNADO. Join us later this week for a full episode of  TV Round-Up where we’ll talk DEXTER, LUTHER, HANNIBAL, and other small screen things on our minds. See ya!

It’s time to get our Marry/Fuck/Kill on again. This time we focus on the 90s and  have little problem making our choices. In fact, Moreno (the Mexican) chooses one woman for all three. His explanation is priceless.

We also have a shit-ton of reviews for your listening pleasure. Let’s take a look at ODD THOMAS, THE PURGE, THE CALL, RED DAWN, and 42. Speaking of The Purge, there have been very few movies we hated more than this garbage. We tear through all it’s problems and offer up how this film was almost great. And by “almost” we mean never had a chance in hell.

There’s one brand new Google Voice transcription, a couple new sounders and look ahead to what to expect form our INDEPENDENCE DAY commentary later this week. Stay tuned!
