  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – Transformers Retrospective w/ Matthew Goudreau and Nate Peterson: Transformers The Movie (1986)
It is one of the most unusual franchises in history as it is derisive among purists, yet it is also a lucrative moneymaker. I am of course talking about Transformers. A 1984 cartoon that had a massive toy line, only to be replaced by a whole new toy line by 1986's game changing theatrical film. And then came producer Steven Spielberg, who hand picked non fan of the cartoon Michael Bay to handle a live action version of that oh so lucrative toy line from many years ago. With five films, a cartoon movie, and a brand new prequel starring Bumblebee, we tackle a franchise that is derided and molded. But how will myself, Nate, and Matt respond to it?

In 1984, young boys were ready for something to replace Star Wars. Sure, we had He-Man to tide us over, but there HAD to be another thing to keep us busy, right? Enter Transformers. After two successful seasons, Hasbro felt the need to change the formula by releasing a theatrical film that would not only kill off the old line of toys, but also introduce a whole new set. Essentially, they ended up making an hour and a half toy commercial.

Join Nate, Matt, and myself as we dive into Transformers: The Movie, and wonder if the massive box office flop from the time has any redeeming qualities, and begin our journey toward this month's Bumblebee release.

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – Harry Potter Retrospective w/ Matthew Goudreau and Adam Bunch: Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
It may seem hard to believe, but in the mid 90s, wizardry was far from a common theme in movies and/or literature. But once British author JK (Joanne) Rowling introduced her first novel about a young wizard named Harry Potter, and the soon to be series was followed by sequels, you couldn’t escape the oncoming copycats and anticipated announcements of release dates. Not to mention the phenomena. The series launched the careers of Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, as well as made a ton of money at the box office. Yet, I was (mostly) not among those who were taken into the world of Hogwarts. So how will I and my co-hosts react to the eight Potter and two Fantastic Beasts films?

We have finally reached the finish line. Ten movies, ten podcasts. Harry Potter has certainly been quite a surprise to me, as I have enjoyed taking the ride through the Wizarding World, and letting Matt guide me through all the questions I had for a franchise I had no idea about before we started. So all that being said, how do we feel about how the series finishes?

Join Adam, Matt, and myself as we review the new release Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindelwald, and we all come to conclusions about the imprint going through the series has left on our lives. As always, thanks to my two comrades, as well as that sneaky bastard Juan Carlos for our kick ass featured image, and stay tuned as myself, Matt, and Nate go through the Transformers franchise leading up to Bumblebee.

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – Harry Potter Retrospective w/ Matthew Goudreau and Adam Bunch: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them (2016)
It may seem hard to believe, but in the mid 90s, wizardry was far from a common theme in movies and/or literature. Yet, I was (mostly) not among those who were taken into the world of Hogwarts. So how will I and my co-hosts react to the eight Potter and two Fantastic Beasts films?

After Harry Potter cast his final onscreen spell in 2011, people were left wondering, what next? PotterMore got fans through their days, but author JK Rowling still felt there was room to explore the Wizarding World universe with a whole franchise centered around a textbook barely shown in an early Potter film. Welcome, to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

Join Matt, Adam, and I as we review the first film of the Eddie Redmayne starring series (and ninth in the overall Potter universe) and wonder with baited breath what the hell Johnny Depp is doing here.

  • Small Screen Heroes: A Tribute to Stan Lee
Batch and Logan send out the Spidey signal to recruit some Binge-vengers (Bengers? Bin...gers?) known as Marc Chevalier and Art from Cali to pay tribute to comic book legend and pop culture icon Stan "The Man" Lee, as he recently departed this world to go to the Avengers tower in the sky. The geeky fantastic four talk about their favorite superheroes, stories, and sagas created by Stan for a good chunk of the podcast. After they close out paying their respects, Batch and Art discuss Titans, then everyone discusses the Disney Streaming Service. Batch and Logan find a way to insult Superman while Art is actually there, before Art gets really aroused getting to talk about Cyclops. Great show content right here, true believers!

Rest in Peace, Stan Lee. You will be missed.  Excelsior!!!

  • Binge Movie Aftertaste – Rocky Retrospective w/ Luke Norris: Creed 2 (2018)
Back in the Fall of 2015, Luke Norris and myself looked at all the Rocky films leading up to the release of the series spin-off Creed. Not thinking it would go anywhere else, Norris and I shifted through the entire series, feeling like director Ryan Coogler's Creed was the perfect cap-off as it surprised everyone and even garnered Sylvester Stallone an Oscar nomination.

Three years later, here we stand. Norris is no longer a part of Binge Media, and Creed launched its own franchise, with a just released new installment which has made over $50 million in its first week of release. Meaning, not only was it a given that I was going to get Norris to come back to review Creed 2, it also looks like he will come back two-three years later for yet another installment. But will he want to?

Join Norris and myself for this very special edition of the Aftertaste, as we catch up on what he's been doing in his time away, as well as how he feels the Binge Sportscast has done since he left. And then we get to the review, which is more of a difference of opinion than I was expecting.
