In this episode, Bink and Garrett bring on special guest Emma Wilson aka Garrett’s wonderful wife. They kick off the episode with fast facts about Emma, her pet peeve, and they discuss what books they are currently reading. Bink shares one of his first world annoyances. They then dive into Emma’s story where she talks about growing up a homeschooled, military kid. She discusses how she developed a perfectionist trait that ruled her in high school and college. Her moral compass was her direction as she tried to do everything for God and felt great shame if she felt like she disappointed Him. She didn’t begin to see His grace until she started to hear the gospel in a different way in college and through meeting her now husband, Garrett. She started to let go of relying on her own strength and her moral perfectionism when health issues disrupted her ability to perform. She finishes by sharing her hard decision of letting go of a job as it went against her image of being a perfectionist. She trusted God and walked with Him. She is continuing to walk with Him in the process of letting go of relying on herself and instead falling into His grace.

They transition into Marina’s story where she shares how she ended up in an orphanage in Mexico, was adopted by a family in Nashville, and the heartbreak of losing her adoptive dad at 18. She began to feel lost when she became pregnant at 20, but ended up finding some stability with the father’s parents by living with them. She shares the struggles and trials of being a single mother trying to provide for her son and how she worked three jobs. She eventually became a nurse and was finally able to have some stability after being hired by Bink’s dad, Dr. Baxter. This newfound job led to intentional conversations with Dr. Baxter that ended up leading her to a relationship with Jesus. She finishes by sharing how God was always watching out for her and speaking to her through the little things in her life, also pushing her forward toward life with Him.
