We spoke about the annual pilgrimage to Kerala in the last episode. But despite innumerable trips, can we say we have seen the state better than your neighbour back here in Gujarat? Most probably no.
This series is a personal memoir of my life spent in various capacities. As a print reporter, a radio producer, a government employee, an entrepreneur, traveller, photographer and above all friend of friends and as a family man. Started as a Malayalam Podcast, trying to convert a few of them into English. Every incident is sautéed with some metaphor, sarcasm and satire. None of the incidents in this memoir is made up. Everything is real life incident. You can find all the Malayalam Episodes at anchor.fm/boilandsteam
All of us used to have an annual pilgrimage to our native place Kerala every year. But how many explored the state in your hundreds of trips? Today I look back at those beautiful moments we missed and continue to make the same mistakes.

I was thinking of people who keep shifting their place of stay regularly. In my entire life here in Ahmedabad I shifted residence three times. All three for some good reasons.

Today I go back to an age when I was just 8 or 10 years. Those good old days when we were satisfied despite having nothing. When we had no mobiles and used to write inland letters.

As I browse through one GigaByte speed today at my home, I remember the days when I was struggling to get even one kilobyte. Today in 1995 Windows 95 was launched. In this episode, I recollect how I coped with changing technologies and internet woes when it was at its infancy and me as Generation X. The Malayalam version of this can be found here.

Haren Pandya was the home minister of Gujarat. But he was murdered under mysterious circumstances. His father Vithal Pandya was adamant that it was a political murder. When I visited him along with Anosh Malekar of The Week at his home, he was openly blaming a few people. This is the conversation we had. He died later and the case went without a trace. This recording happened around March 2004.
Ganesh N. Devy is a thinker, cultural activist and an institution builder, best known for the People’s Linguistic Survey of India and the Adivasi Academy created by him. He is credited to start the Bhaashaa research and Publication Centre. Along with friend, Anosh Malekar, I met him several times at his Tribal Academy, Vadodara and even in Pune. This is one of the conversations I had with him where he speaks about linguistic values, sickle cell anaemia and various other factors.
