  • "Del Siervo" Viewpoint 🌍/ Mirador del Siervo🏔️ (En-Es)
Portugal has so many beautiful things to offer us that sometimes it is difficult to decide what to visit in a short period of time if you are on holiday here! My job is to make things easier for you as a tourist, if you stay in the North of the country for example in the city of Porto I can invite you to make a stop in a town called "Vila Nova de Cerveira", then you will drive about 10km to the mountain called "Alto do Castro" and then you will look for the "Do Servant" viewpoint and get ready to live an adventure full of the best views of the valley and the Mino river!🏰📸🗺️

Everything we see related to the word Castro is a term that refers to constructions that date back to the Bronze Age, probably 2500 BC, and is the name designated to the mountain where the viewpoint is located. There are scientific records that there were already small populations inhabiting the entire mountain that surrounds the river "Mino", the formation of the river and mountain have a much older origin than when continental Portugal had volcanoes. Hundreds of years later, between the II and III AD, the Romans created one of the best cities in "Vila Nova de Cerveira".🧔🏻‍♂️📸

The 360 degree view from the top of the mountain is one of the best I've seen in Portugal for a long time. There are so many details here that you could spend a whole day exploring all the paths left by hundreds of adventurers, some of them extending hundreds of kilometers to the north of Spain. The highest point of this mountain is 620 meters, which is almost where the "servant" monument was built. I didn't have time, but I recommend that you climb the mountain by the trail, it will take you about 4 hours, or you can simply come by vehicle.📸🌍

This particular photo is interesting because you see a bridge, that bridge is the one that crosses the Mino River, and crossing it we arrive in Spain, that is why this whole area throughout its history had a lot of relevance, because Spain and Portugal were at war for almost all of history! and all the border villages were always reinforced with castles and things of a military nature.🫅🏻

    **What a view!🧔🏻‍♂️⛰️🌍**
The servant, as I said in the video, represents a deer, a fairly common animal decades ago! Nowadays they are not seen in freedom, the monument is more than 20 meters high and was built by José Rodríguez who died at the age of 79, the material used for the deer was concrete and iron, it was painted black and can be seen from the town more than 15km away, there are those who say that the monument can be seen from Spain!🦌🦌🦌
    #

You don't have to worry about piloting the craft because there are no restrictions, I just don't recommend going over 60 meters because there is a small airport nearby and well you don't want to get into trouble, as the area is popular for drone use check if there is no other person around to avoid crashes or accidents! I think the best time of year to visit the viewpoint is in the spring because we see the mountain quite dense with flowers and bushes, summers are drier.🏰🏔️🗺️

  • Visit to Tongóbriga👨🏻‍🎓 / Visita a Tongóbriga🚩🧭 (En-Es)
In 1980 the archaeologist Lino Tavares carried out a series of excavations in the city of "Freixo" exactly under the chapel "dos Mouros" and discovered a Castro settlement which dates back to the Bronze Age. This revealed something interesting and that is that possibly the Romans when they arrived found these people who still inhabited these hills and named them "savages", and one of the things that the Romans found strange in that tribe was: "look these men only have one woman". Do you want to learn more about Tongobriga? Read my post.🚩🌍

(Tongobriga) is also known as the town of "Freixo" and consists of an archaeological settlement that was initially discovered as a large Roman villa, later excavations near a church revealed evidence of (Castro) fortifications dating back to the Bronze Age, this discovery led to the conclusion that the area was already populated more than 1,500 years before Christ.🌍👳🏻‍♀️

I really liked that the museum has a section where they exhibit all the things that have been found to date. Among the most important objects are some coins from different Roman times that can be dated to the period when the Romans settled in Tongobriga, the oldest being from the reign of Augustus in the 2nd century BC. We also see different decorative objects such as hair clips, clothing, some inscriptions in Latin, and even board games.⚱️🚩

Few people know the term (Brácaros) and this village refers to the Roman-Galicians who spread throughout the south of Galicia to what would now be Braga in Portugal in the north of the country, those who lived further south were the "Lucianos", I personally had never visited a space that explained the behavior of the Roman people who inhabited this region and I think that is enough to visit this space and further nourish our general culture, in addition to "Freixo" being a beautiful medieval village that still maintains much of the architecture of the time, which motivates us even more to visit Tongobriga.🌻🏔️

Generally speaking the behaviour of a Roman city was similar to others since Rome was not a nomadic people, on the contrary it was one of the most powerful empires of all time and already had an economic, social, political and military system too advanced for the time, therefore Roman laws applied to the entire empire, meaning that the currency of Tongobriga was the same one used in Olissipo (Lisbon), just as the laws were applied to every (civitas) or Roman person, the Romans normally did not pay taxes but in times of war they were forced to make loans that were then compensated with the profits generated by the conquered land.🏛️🧭

Almost all Roman villas of this type were for people with a social status above average, some were claimed by military leaders, according to the article: (rotadoromanico.com) this city was one of the most important of the Republican era because important decisions were made here within the territory and that is why it is classified as a world heritage site; in the Flavian dynasty a huge amphitheater was created that also served as a commercial space.⛲🧭

Good morning fellow adventurers and drone lovers, I'm excited to bring content to this great community, today I drove about 25km to Torres Vedras to visit this beautiful chapel, which has a post-medieval history and at the same time we are going to go up to the viewpoint of the area to put our drone in the air and have some fun! The first thing we are going to highlight in our visit is the beautiful viewpoint that the chapel has, you have a 360 degree view of the entire territory, from here you can see Mafra and the palace as well as the defensive lines of Torres Vedras that I explained in the video were a set of military forts arranged in line to defend Lisbon from possible invasions, due to this line there is a 25km path that allows you to travel through all of them and see all the forts, I already uploaded videos of some military forts here, those belong to this line if I'm not mistaken there are more than 50, today the weather did not help me much it was cloudy as you can see in the photos, a lot of wind and of course that made it difficult to get a better video or better photos!⛰️🚩🚙

I discovered this place by chance. I was passing by a marking and I saw some crosses, so they caught my attention, so I followed them to the top of the mountain. There were more than 20 in total. Something told me that this was a pilgrimage that is common in Portugal. When I got to the top I came across this very pretty and well-kept chapel, so I decided to use my drone and investigate it. First I discovered that it is more than 400 years old, and that before there was a pagan altar here, probably from the 12th century.🚩🚙

Here I managed to photograph the chapel, quite small and pretty! It's a shame it's not open to the public because I read that the inside has been restored and has tiles, as I mentioned in the video, it was built in the 16th century, post-medieval, the objective was to bring Christianity to every corner of the country and placing a chapel at the highest point of Torres Vedras was a good option! As I mentioned in the video, it is not necessary to ask for authorization to pilot the drone, here it is rare to pass the 80-meter barrier, I don't even like to reach 100 meters in height, if you respect all these conditions you can use the drone without problem.🚵🏻‍♀️🚙🚩

Hello friends, nature and drone lovers, today I bring you a very natural post. We are going to travel about 20km to the south in the municipality of Palmela, where we will visit the Serra da São Luís. My intention is to explore it with the drone to discover some interesting things such as new trails or caves. It is actually my first time in the area and I am inexperienced, so the drone is always a good resource to start a hike. Enjoy my experience in the mountains.⛰️🌎

Palmela is quite big and has a great diversity of culture and landscapes, it is a municipality whose center was built at a height that is why it is around the Castle, one day I published about the Castle so you can see it in my old posts, from the center we will walk directly to the hills about 4km and we will enter the wildest landscape, are these the most beautiful landscapes of Palmela? Yes... In fact one of the most beautiful in the southern area of Lisbon.⛰️🌎

While I was doing some research I discovered that there is a road that was built in the post-medieval era with the conquests of Palmela, a street that went from Palmela to the North to the center of Lisbon, it is more than 500 years old and is the property of the municipality, in fact, to preserve it, it is prohibited to use asphalt on all the roads in the reserve, it was not a main road but a secondary one, that is why it did not have the typical pavement of the Stone Age! But it is worth highlighting.🌎⛰️

Castle in sighttt!! Walking through this mountain range is to be able to enjoy the best views of Portugal. In the distance, on a hill of two hundred meters we see the famous Palmela Castle. If you don't know it, you can visit it. You won't be disappointed. And I imagine the people who worked in agriculture in the 12th century planting some vegetables or fruits to survive. Next to me there is a hill that is about one hundred meters high. There are windmills there, placed from the 17th century.⛰️🌎

I cannot fly the drone over the castle without permission so we will only enjoy it from a distance, but we can fly the drone over this abandoned structure which is a small Christian church from the 16th century. Despite being destroyed, it is one of the attractions of the "São Luís" mountain range, which is impossible to visit because the paths are too dangerous and steep.🌎🚩

This is the first time I went somewhere without organizing myself or without a plan. What I did was follow a couple of trails with yellow symbols that I think are from the scouts, and well, I went exploring to discover new trails that I would do in the future. I also passed through several small, pretty villages. My destination was on the way to the castle.🚙🚩

    **natural inns⛲🚩**
It caught my attention that I passed by a couple of pretty, artisanal ecological inns. I was checking them on the internet and the price per night is barely 50 euros. Of course, you don't have the comforts that a 4-star hotel offers, but it's ideal for doing something different with your partner! There are also some wineries that you can visit or buy a local wine.🧭📸

  • Discovering archaeology with the drone⛰️🚩🏰 (En-Es)
Hello friends, today I have a very funny post. I went to the city of Palmela, one of the oldest and most interesting on the southern edge of Lisbon, to discover archaeological ruins and learn about the fascinating civilizations that inhabited them. It is interesting to see these places with the drone since we can see the details of each citadel more clearly, for example the rooms, the divisions, the road, etc. I walked approximately 12 km to come across three excavations from three different civilizations over a period of 4,000 years.🚩⛰️🌎

This is the first archaeological ruin we came across on the way, it was the first to be inhabited, possibly by the Phoenicians, it was built in the 2nd or 3rd century BC, according to the records it was a civilization that was dedicated to agriculture and hunting, possibly in the Bronze Age when man already mastered the art of war and its defenses, with the drone we were able to see an entrance that is believed to have been a wooden wall to protect the citadel.🏰🌎

First of all, a high-rise building is a place with great privileges, for example, by having a fortification they could see the enemy at a long distance, that is the main reason for building these sites on the hills of Palmela, then we are surrounded by a valley as you can see in the photos, before a river of fresh water passed here thousands of years ago, which facilitated the resources, behind the great mountain is the Atlantic, at the opposite end is the river Tejo and Lisbon. What we conclude is that Palmela is a fairly prolific area with resources and geography.🏰🧑🏻‍🎓

A little less than 1km away we find another civilization that inhabited the area approximately in the 1st century AD, they were the Romans, these here were not a village like the previous one, it was more an area of activities with thermal baths, that is to say just a stopping point to trade or rest, at the same time the Roman troops on marches could rest their horses and be fed, many artifacts were collected that today are in the castle of Palmela.⛰️🌎

Finally, the most recent construction is from the Moors, who inhabited Portugal several centuries after the Romans. It is interesting that they had an architecture somewhat similar to the Romans. In fact, it is believed that they used the foundations of the buildings to place their houses, an intelligent way of "reusing". Here the Moors possibly used the place to obtain resources, they already lived in Palmela so this was either a small village with a few houses of people far from civilization or used for other uses.🌎🚙

If you plan to go to Santarem you have to visit Muge, because despite being a small and agricultural village, it is surrounded by centuries of history. If you go to the town hall there are many records of objects found, wells, shells, animals and bones that date back to the Mesolithic era, that is, about 60 years of the last century. In the other small villages that border the Tejo River, small jars were found, dating back to the Paleolithic and some materials made from the rocks of the area!🚩🗺️

I didn't have to get permits or anything to fly my drone here, this whole area is open and in theory you can fly it up to 120 meters high but just check if you are close to the drone, if so it is 75 meters high maximum and above that you must ask for authorization! I could say that the village is not a touristy one, on the contrary, the few people who live here in the parish are people who work in the fields and a few are pensioners who looked for houses in places near the river and in peace, away from tourists! That's why restaurants and hotels are quite scarce.🗺️🚩

    **representative architecture of the Romans📸**
Portugal was already occupied by the Romans in the 1st century BC and continued until the 5th century AD. Muge is a representation of a village that was occupied by the Romans and this is thanks to the Tejo River that provided resources and an efficient means of transport to the south and north of the country. If you go to Muge you have to stop at the Roman bridge that is here.🧭📸

The Medieval era was undoubtedly the one that marked the history of Muge, and in the 15th century King Manuel built a palace here because he wrote a letter to expel some Jews and Muslims who had been conquered from these lands. Let us remember that Muslims lived in Portugal for hundreds of years until the era of conquests in the 11th century. Then in 1496 Duke Cadaval, who was a powerful dynasty in Muge, made the majority of the people of Muge agricultural!🗺️⛰️

It is a pity that Muge has not preserved any aspects of the medieval era, since a group of structures was restored in the 16th century. Muge's palace is still in the village, but it has few ancient vestiges and instead has a more modern touch. Everything that Muge hid and its secrets in Portuguese history was lost after 1755.⛰️🚩

The village used to be called Muje, but it was renamed Muge, named after a common fish found in the river. It stopped being an independent parish and joined Salvaterra dos Magos and even belonged to Santarem. Nowadays, it seems to me more of an agricultural town than a tourist one! In my opinion, it is easier to stay in Santarem, since there are more demands for hotels and restaurants, and then go to Muge. There are some good wineries in Muge, some of which have been operating since the 17th century.🚩⛲

It is incredible when reading a little about this church, it turns out that in the 13th century there were many settlers arriving in Muge but as there was no church they did not pay tithes, therefore the bishop of Lisbon ordered the bishop of Salvaterra dos Magos to build a church there so that the population would pay taxes, which began the construction of the church "Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição" in 1297, in the 18th century some restorations were made.🚩⛲

  • Visit to Evoramonte Castle (En-Es)🌍👸🏻🏰
Hello adventurous friends, today I bring a quite medieval post and it is that I traveled more than 150km to the village of Evoramonte to visit one of the most iconic castles in the country, first for its slightly more "modern" structure, but in reality the main one. The attraction of the Castle is the history that is housed here, it was here where two kings of Portugal met to sign a peace treaty (Concession of Evoramonte) to end the liberal war between the two of them. How about we take a tour of the village and the castle and also see some Moorish architecture.🌍⛲
    #

Evoramonte are one of those villages that have a little bit of everything to spend an unforgettable vacation, first in the surroundings just under 30 minutes away you have some rivers which you can use to swim or practice water sports, then within the fortified village there are hotels, restaurants, plenty economical, and to add an interesting plus, the climate in Evora is quite hot. If you come from a Nordic country in search of heat, then Evoramonte has everything you need.🏰🌍

Normally these isolated villas in Evora are economical.👸🏻🌍

After the Romans abandoned Portugal for hundreds of years, the Moors were the ones who occupied the country, especially in the south, since the nation was established from the limit of Lisbon to the north to Guimaraes, therefore in order to reconquer the country they had to expel themselves and fight against the Moors, and that would happen from the 11th and 12th centuries, however when we visited the town of Entremonte we could still get objects, culture and architecture from the Moors, in reality the name of Evora and almost all the names of Portugal are of Arabic origin .🏰🌍

My first stop is at this beautiful church called: "São Pedro" which already had some small buildings in the 16th century which served more as an altar than anything else, later only the church was built as you see it in the photo in In 1910, for people not to have to go to the center of Evoramonte, the Catholic Church built their own church here, despite being very new, it still has those medieval touches and is worth visiting, in front is the cemetery.🧭🌏
    #

Portugal was neutral in the Second World War like Spain, but the same did not happen in the first, and villages like Evoramonte were places where family men left their homes to be able to fight alongside the allies! Tens of thousands of Portuguese lives were lost to the point that many of these villages were left without men and instead only boys, girls and women were seen so it took a long time to repopulate, the cemetery is something you have to visit to see graves of people from the 18th century and even the tomb of those who fell in the war. MY RESPECTS.🚩🦾

The change in architecture between areas is impressive, sometimes we have the feeling that we are traveling in the time of the Moors and other times in the medieval era, do you remember my last post on the medieval village where I stayed in "brotas"? Well, I remember that there they still had medieval doors in some houses, but here it is different, they all have their original doors of course restored, in fact I have the impression that this has been the most original town I have visited so far.🚩🏰

The swing is a must-see on our tour because they are fashionable throughout Portugal as they are symbols of beauty and height, literally swings are being built in the highest areas to boost tourism and decorate the landscape, it says the following: " "Evoramonte a mountain of emotions." It is worth it for the landscape and the breeze here is pleasant, inside the town there is only a breeze in the castle, the rest is cut off by the wall.🌎🏰🚩

I do not want to repeat the information in the video, if you want to know the history of the Castle, I explained it in the video, to summarize we are seeing a fortress that belonged to the Moors in the 11th, 12th century and that later in the reconquest wars was recovered exactly in 1248, that Arabic legacy is still present in much of the architecture of our country. You do not need permission to fly the drone here but be careful.👸🏻🫅🏻🌎

    **architecture🏰🌍**
The castle is free so don't worry about having coins or money, but be careful with the operating hours, better check the schedule in Gmaps, there is a girl at the entrance who will welcome you and could clarify any questions in addition to giving you a brochure To know the history of the castle, from here you are on your own, the castle, if I'm not mistaken, has 5 floors, is quite high, was clearly restored and has that architectural mix of all periods from the 12th century to the present day. There is nothing electrical and people with disabilities cannot reach the roof.🧭🌏

To get to the archaeological site, just reach the following coordinates: (39° 04′ 28″ N, 9° 17′ 09″ W) we can only do it by vehicle or by doing some trails from a nearby village, normally they are between 6-10km That's why a whole adventure awaits you, piloting the drone here is allowed and you don't require a permit if you respect the ANAC rules, the best height of the year to visit is in spring since in summer the temperatures are quite high.🌍🚩

This is the view of the valley that was baptized as: "Sizandro" whose name also comes from a reference to the Lizandro River, five thousand years ago the characteristics of the terrain were very different, it was full of rivers, and nearby there was a bay produced by the sea, was very rich in biodiversity and there were abundant rabbits, deer, among other animals that were used for hunting. These resources and the location of the village allowed human settlement without the need to be nomadic.🌍🚩

    **path inside the village🌍**
Summarizing the history of the place, the first human settlements were in 2850 BC and the first village was built until 2700, then the first reform of the place was carried out by adding two columns, this was in 2600, one hundred years later! Then in 2500 the last work of the first generation was done in Castro Zambujal, some circles were added that served as protection to use defensive tools such as spears.🧭🌏👩‍🏫

Entering the second phase of habitat and construction were in 2400 BC and lasted until 200, in total 400 years of improvements in fortification, finally we reached the Bronze Age this period included between 1900 to 1750 here civilization advances enough and the valley begins to be disputed between other towns, remains of arrowheads and other war materials are obtained, from here towards the front the village stops having much historical importance since we leave European prehistory aside!🧭🚙

This area corresponds to a pillar which had an opening in the middle, it was reinforced in the Chalcolithic, and served as refuge in times of war with other tribes. In addition, it was also a place where the archer could capture larger prey without being detected. Currently the pillars are destroyed and cannot be seen in detail, but we can see it here in the photo I took.🚩🚙

The first stop we will make here at the "Cape Espichel Lighthouse" with a total height of more than 360 meters, this was one of the first lighthouses to be built in the southern part of Portugal, it dates back to 1790 and like other lighthouses its main function was to serve as a guide to Portuguese ships, as well as reinforcing the protection line of the entire coast, extending to Lisbon, more than 15 lighthouses that illuminated the ocean for possible pirate ships that were very frequent at that height! To get to the lighthouse you cannot use public transport so you have two options: walk when you pass the 25 de Abril bridge and be careful, it is a very long route of 4-6 hours, or simply arrive with public transport! here you get it; (38.415533, -9.216327)🤴🏻🧑🏻‍🏫🏰

Another piece of architecture from the time but this one dates back to the year 1402, being also one of the tourist sites further west in Sesimbra, it was a Catholic place inhabited by pilgrims who lived there for more than 200 years, today it is a mortal monument. Of Portuguese historical interest, according to legend, here in 1410 the image of the Virgin Mary appeared on a wall, which made the place a place of worship to this day! Next to the sanctuary we have an aquaduct, the inside of the church is almost always closed and until today I have not been able to visit it... But one of these days I will manage to enter...🏰🧑🏻‍🏫🌅

I always try to do my best to create the best of all content and well I also try to bring the best to the Drone community and be able to boost the views and rewards, today I feel proud because I think I have the best images so far. now published here! It is incredible that if I took photographs with my camera they could not compare with these beauties captured with my Mavic, I really did not know that Azoia was so beautiful, first time I flew the drone here and it has been a challenge because it is a protected area that requires permits, there are Many military exercises too so I finally have a day with the sky all to myself! but be careful... Azoia doesn't make it easy for you, there was too much wind so I had to be too cautious when piloting it to the sides of the lighthouse🤴🏻🌍🌅
Technically the westernmost point of the country ends here, also technically Europe ends in this area, however the southernmost point is Sagres, there you could also say that it is the end of the European continent however Sesimbra with its wonderful landscapes invites us to make a visit to see the most beautiful side of Portugal, only this could be surpassed by some areas of the Algarve and believe me they do not compete...🧭🌏👩‍🏫

*If you come to Azoia you will be able to see and even touch fossilized dinosaur footprints that are millions of years old, and Sesimbra has a high record of footprints during its history due to the abundance of resources that made many dinosaurs walk here in the shape of "migration" to reach the water that was accessible in some rivers, millions of years ago this area did not have a sea, on the contrary it was plains that with the movement of the plates cause the buried footprints to rise to the surface of the hand also with erosion from the earth.🧑🏻‍🏫🌎*

Hello fellow travelers, June is almost approaching and I am sad because our favorite travel community is leaving. I thank all their collaborators for such excellent work on the platform. Is this my last post in the community? Maybe yes... Maybe not... I know from one thing that the future is always uncertain, today I went to visit a small village called: (Marinhais) 68km from the center of the country and that has a beautiful and short history, For me, its landscapes are enough to spend a few hours in the town and enjoy the landscape of the "Tejo River" and how it was in charge of giving life to abandoned lands without political purposes for the kings of Portugal!🚩🚙🌍

Marinhais is located at the following coordinates: (39°03'16″N 8°41'24″W), it is a very small village on the outskirts of Salvaterra dos Magos and the simple fact that it is so close to Salvaterra motivates us to Visit it to learn about the famous falconry practice that was carried out by the kings of Portugal for hundreds of years. By the way, you can see the story in one of my previous posts. Marinhais is one of those small places that you only visit once because there are no A lot of enveloping history and it is a recent town with many mysteries, almost nothing is known about who or when they inhabited the lands in the past!🤴🏻🌲🚩

It is interesting if you like to fly drones because the area is accessible without restrictions you can take some good shots here, in my opinion visiting Marinhais is for those people who like natural adventures such as hiking, fishing and kayaking, not far from Here you can take a boat tour on the Tejo River for less than 25 euros per person, lodging and food is quite affordable so you can stay here to promote tourism in the area and at the same time it serves as a starting point. to visit other areas of the country! Important: (you have to have at least one rented vehicle) the area is poor in public transportation!🌍🚩🧭

    **18th century records🤴🏻🫅🏻**
The few records that we have of the village are when several publications mention King Don Miguel I passing through these lands several times to go to the northern mountains to hunt deer, a quite popular sport at the time, this refers to the 18th century, before that little is known about Marinhais, perhaps like its neighboring lands it was occupied by some civilizations that occupied the river for the high natural resource that it produces for the local inhabitants, the name of Marinhais is due to a plant that grows in abundance in the area🧭🌏👩‍🏫
    #
