It’s the best when you can intentionally driving your time each day. there are lots of things that need your attention… YOU for starters, family, business, hobbies.

Upward mobility
Growth should be adding to your business but also diversifying your offers.  Don’t keep adding skills that require more of your time. 
 
Fulfillment 
Do what you love and feel passionate about and you’ll always find success.

In this episode I will be busting the top 3 myths about digital courses!

Myth #1: It’s difficult to create a digital course.  

It’s not!  All you need is the knowledge, passion and a computer or phone with a good camera and a microphone.  As you get going and start creating revenue, you can reinvest that into some better equiptment.

As far as the curriculum itself, stay organized with your thoughts and write everything out in detail.  You also want to make sure you are covering all ways of learning with different tools.  Then find perfect platform, add your graphics and descriptions and you're ready to roll.  Well... that's the abbreviated version, but you get it.

Myth #2: The market is saturated.

It’s not!  There is such a need for digital education! Self paced courses are what a lot of our clients want.  It also allows you a much bigger reach and you get to educate way more people.  whatever topics your expertise is, it doesn't have to be only for the perinatal community.  You can capture your birth professionals community as well! (ask me how!)

Myth #3: You can set it and forget it.

You cannot!  At least not if you want to sell it.

You need to figure out a launch plan, marketing, sales and how you're going to nurture your audience.

Digital courses are worth the time and financial investment because the return on both of those are incredible!  Passive income allows you to build your business without the threat of burnout and can afford you the time and financial freedom to continue to grow and scale sustainably.

In this episode, I interview Michelle Gabriel Caldwell, owner of Baby Please, and a colleague of mine for over a decade.  We discuss how she transitioned from being a childbirth educator to a doula and how she manages her roles as an active doula/doula agency owner and a full time chemical engineer, a part of her life that she loves, that keeps her balanced and that she is not ready to let go of, no matter how big her doula business grows.

We also cover the importance of highlighting positive birth stories and Michelle talks about her focus on being a strong voice in the black and brown birth community.  She shares her insights into managing a doula agency, cultivating relationships with other professionals, and organizing her busy schedule to split her energy between her full time career, her passion for supporting her perinatal community and also cultivating the doulas that work with her.  For Michelle, being an agency owner is way more than just running a business, it educating and mentoring the doulas in her community and watching them thrive.

So when we are thinking about growing our doula businesses, Michelle proves that you can think BIG!  You can have everything you want and need and there is no reason to sacrifice the things that make you happy.

Michelle is the owner of Baby, Please Birth Services Agency LLC located in NJ, additionally serving NY, PA, CT, MD and GA. She is a certified Doula and Childbirth Educator teaching the Bradley Method ®, Dancing for Birth ® and her own Holistic Course expressly for The Birth Center of NJ of which she is the Doula Director. Michelle is also a NBDA (National Black Doulas Association) Instructor, training and mentoring aspiring new doulas in Labor, Fertility and Postpartum support. She holds over 18 years of experience in the birth industry; helping over 450 families navigate their birthing spaces, training and mentoring birth professionals while ensuring birth justice through state and national initiatives, serving on nonprofit boards and panels, enhancing the platform through blogs and podcasts, Michelle empowers others by offering education, support and advocacy. She holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry.
