Bit Storm

The 2026 Deck Sessions continue as Ben and Trevor spend a lot of time discussing an 80s inspired game where you are taping songs off the radio, then go completely off the rails about reverse chicken football and a guy called Johnny Two-Fingers.

With GGJ having just completed for 2026, Ben and Trev use the theme "Mask" and generate a bunch of games that they could have made over the weekend:

1. A teleporting TSA agent pursues a passenger through the terminal
2. A parent and child must look after the driads of the forest.
3. A prisoner must escape a french prison, while the warden makes a lot of mouse jokes.

Ben and Trevor revisit last year's Global Game Jam theme ahead of this year's jam: Bubble.

With this in mind, they come up with games such as:

1. a detective game where you play Glinda in Oz, long after the events of Dorothy;
2. a tense deduction game set in a locked down apartment building;
3. a nuclear power plant simulator with made up controls;
4. and more!

This episode sees the long awaited return of dentists as villains, as Ben and Trev once again grace Ben's deck and record a summer nights podcast. The games discussed included.

1. A first person soccer goal keeping game with wacky goal additions
2. A first person paperboy game set in a world with portals to a parallel world, not to be confused with Stranger Things a legally distinct property
3. A narrative game where your partner is a minion working in the volcano lair of Dr. Tooth von Filling.

Ben and Trevor continue their 'On the Deck' series with another session of Ramped Up Click Pitch, riffing on game ideas such as:

a 3D heist game where you play a group of scrappy resistance fighters in a cross between Hitman and Commandos;

a top-down RPG about a journalist dealing with a government experiment in a small town;

a multi-character exploration of first contact with aliens who offload their emotional processing to members of a hive-mind;

and more!

Ben and Trev bring you the first episode of 2026, live from Ben's wonderful side deck. While they enjoy a beverage they muse on some interesting game ideas such as:

1. Handling Brand Recognition for a drink company
2. Dealing with absent forrest neighbours
3. Apply sunscreen to your Gran

As has been tradition for a few years now, Ben and Trevor have trawled the depths of Dark Steam on the Dark Web to find their favourite underground games of the year, including:

a VR improv theatre game involving a plunger;

a game about building your castle on wheels;

a hive-mind bringing in new members;

and more!

Ben and Trevor brewak from tradition this year and record the Christmas episode remotely, due to illness. The Christmas themed games of course include the regular list of characters, such as Santa, Canta and Mr Claus, but also feature such ideas as:

1. Create a safari park, while trying to find the many hidden reindeers
2. Design your own robot Santa
3. Play lots of mini games trying to win the incredible opportunity to meet Santa at the north pole
4. Hold the fort while the other elves hold an intervention for Santa.

Ben and Trevor go back to What 3 Words for some prompts, riffing on ideas such as:

a DNA sequencing house builder;

working behind the counter at a cyberpunk body modification facility;

winning a bodybuilding contest that has been in decline for years;

and more!

Ben had the brilliant idea of hopping on the streamer wagon this week, so Ben and Trev came up with ideas that streamers would hopefully love to play. The games discussed included a bunch of friendslop, but also some banger such as:

• A handyman fixing random things in a haunted mansion
• A geoguesser inspired game where you must navigate your way out of a randomly generated world
• A friendly fishing game with random encounters along the way.
