Bit Storm

Ben and Trevor return once again to create zany games featuring ideas such as a murderous dinner party, battlefield tic-tac-toe, an alien that was swapped at birth and of course a quantum horse. How did they come to these conclusions, find out in this episode of Bit Storm.

Ben and Trevor have returned from the quickest hiatus in history to bring more weird ideas from the depths of their collective minds. Games discussed include: the newest comic book "hero" the Handyman, a factory controlled by monkeys, a necromantic/instructional kids game and a Metroidvania where two stoners go in search of the mysterious "Yellow".

Replicating wreckages, fighting premonitions of death and fate, inflicting world peace via mattresses, a cock (rooster) wielding a blowtorch to save chickens, a hospital fighting the resistance to “laughter is the best medicine” and lastly an insomniac wanting nothing but just some alone time in the night without disrupting their loved one’s sleep.

Drew Agnew, from the House of Mario podcast, joins Ben and Trevor this week to discuss numerous fake games with ludicrous themes such as, a 90 second Battle Royale game with a twist, exploring a giant floating turtle, eyedrops that cause eyes to become sentient, and finally an 8 bit RTS Battle Royale with hacking mechanics.

A detective interrogating the maker (of the universe?), an adventure game based loosely on American Vandal, a Lost real time strategy set in an alternate universe and a new breed of heroes come together as a Special Tusk Force. Ben and Trevor laugh their way through these ideas and more.

To celebrate joining the Atebit Collective, Brendan White of The Hungry Gamers joins Ben and Trevor this week, bringing a new army of villainous dentists into the Bit Storm canon, plus a superhero lion, a date gone very wrong, a very hungry lawn, a parrot detective, and more of his dark desires.

Ben and Trevor give a brief rundown of their experience at the Global Game Jam 2019, including the ideas they didn't use, and the development of their prototype game Ghost Home.
