In today's episode, I watch and react to Powell's appearance at a central banking panel in Stockholm, Sweden this week. Many people were expecting some policy guidance in the speech. We didn't that that, but we did get a huge slam of the ESG policy that has been pushed by other central banks like the ECB in recent years.
Powell pretty much lays the smackdown, saying the Federal Reserve will not be pursuing climate or ESG goal through its policy or tools. This is a massive split in central bank interest between the Davos controlled ECB and the Wall Street control Federal Reserve.
I fast forwarded a lot of the less interesting words from the speakers. Enjoy.

In today's episode, I cover some exciting macro chart (you can find those below or at bitcoinandmarkets.com/e295), and then I do a reaction to one of Saifedean Ammous's most recent podcast episodes where he interviews Gale Pooley.
I disagree with my of their arguments about "superabundance", instead calling it "overabundance" driven by credit-based money and the greatest period of global peace and free trade in history. Enjoy.

Happy New Year! In today's episode, I read through a couple tweet threads about bitcoin and macro. The first is from Alistair Milne talking about halving cycles and 2023, along with some big predictions for the new year. The second thread, is by Stack Hodler and talks about the epic December that the Bank of Japan has had. They did a record amount of asset purchases this month, despite raising the yield curve control ceiling. I read through both these threads and give you my unique reaction and perspective. Enjoy.

In today's episode, I read through a couple pieces. The first, from Mish, is about the nature of inflation and deflation. He unexpectedly paints a deflationary picture.
The second piece I read through, and the majority of time during this episode, is Zoltan Poznar's most recent dispatch. Oh brother, do I have a lot to say about this. He is all over the place in his misunderstanding. Zoltan's expertise is in interest rates and financial plumbing, yet he has ventured into the realm of geopolitics for the last 6 months with his Bretton Woods III abomination.
His key evidence of the Saudi/Xi meeting is utter nonsense. I tear it apart from the first sentence. Zoltan actually believes that the CBDC project that China and Gulf countries are working on has some efficiency or benefit, instead of being masked MMT and colonialism for the communists in Beijing. Enjoy.

Today's episode is about current events in bitcoin explored in a sweeping narrative form, including discussion of Michael Saylor and Microstrategy, CPI vs Shadow Stats vs Chapwood Index, the unimportance of M2 as a measure of money. Then we read through an article about the "Fab 4", a proposed semiconductor pact amongst the largest producers, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and the US. Today's episode goes over all the macro charts you can find below (bitcoinandmarkets.com/e289), plus a discussion on how the market picks the money it uses. It's not as simple as saying X,Y,Z properties are best for a money at all times and places. The macro environment changes through time. Some money will be better or worse, depending on the state of the global economic environment. Enjoy.

Today's episode covers macro headlines about oil and PCE for November. I walk through exactly why a hard recession is unlikely in the US, as economic activity is coming off a HUGE nominal number as CPI is crashing. This creates the feeling of free fall in the economy but real GDP can actually stay positive. This puts massive downward pressure on the demand for oil globally, and since the US is a giant producer of oil and natural gas, it puts the US in the economic driver seat.
Lastly, a member of the audience brings up a very big news item out of Russia, where they have stated that they "WILL" start using bitcoin as early as January for import/export deals.
