Ryan Kugler : The Liquidation and Closeout Business
Episode 115
with Ryan Kugler of Plan B, A5 Events and Ideal Content
Ryan Kugler is the president and owner of three companies: Plan B, one of the nation’s largest secondary wholesalers; A5 Events; and Ideal Content.
Born in Chicago, Ryan moved to Los Angeles at a young age where he took an interest in the film industry and made his way onto several studio lots, becoming friends with actor Ted Danson.
During breaks from school, Ryan worked for the family business DVA, which bought and sold VHS tapes. After finishing school, he moved to Florida to work full time at DVA in sales. It took him only a short time to learn the ropes and he quickly moved up to buyer, soon followed by VP of purchasing.
In 2013, Ryan left DVA because he saw the writing on the wall (DVDs were on the decline and many people were watching films on demand). Over the next few years, he started three companies: Plan B, which buys and sells closeouts from manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers; A5 Events, which produces corporate events for large corporations and nonprofit organizations; and Ideal Content, a marketing company that works with Fortune 500 companies to produce new and unique high-end marketing products.

Xero Shoes: Moving Forward by Going Back in Time
Episode 113
with Steven Sashen of Xero Shoes
Steven Sashen, CEO of Xero Shoes, is one of the fastest men over 55 in the United States. He wears nothing but Xero shoes and swears by them. He says most shoe companies design shoes with luxurious cushioning and arch support, making your foot feel comfortable and protected. But those actually hurt the strength of your foot, he says, and cause more injury than his minimalist shoe line.
His company manufactures and sells lightweight performance recreation footwear. People in 97 countries enjoy his sandals and shoes for everything from a stroll on the beach or hike in the woods to a gym workout or marathon run. Xero is all about NATURAL: Natural FIT -- your toes can spread and relax in the wide toe box. Plus the XERO-drop (non-elevated heel and low-to-the-ground design) allows for proper posture, balance and agility; Natural FUNCTION -- Xeros designs let your feet bend, flex and move the way they're supposed to. And they're so lightweight you barely feel them; Natural FEEL -- the exclusive, patented FeelTrue® sole protects you while also giving your feet and brain the ground feedback they want to feel.

● Finding a name that fits the brand.
