Welcome back to BizQuik! Two things Julie hates about the holidays - the need of guru’s to call it Separation Season, and those stupid red cups from Starbucks. And today she’s focusing on Separation Season, because it would be an absolute waste of time to record an entire episode of BizQuik about red cups.
Separation Season is that time of year when guru’s brag about how much harder they are working than everyone else. They're getting ahead of all the competition by continuing to work 16 hour days, and they make sure everyone knows it. Julie says “ENOUGH!”, if you wanna skip out on the holidays and continue with hustle culture, do it - but do it without telling the world you’re doing it.
It is possible to grind out your days without sharing it with the entire world. It’s also possible to let other people live their lives, spending their holidays however they want to spend them. Let’s let people do what works for them without judging how hard they are or are not working.
Separate yourself. Take days off. Work hard. Don’t work at all. Do you. That’s really the point of being an entrepreneur - to do you.
Themes: entrepreneur, holidays, hustle, separation season

Welcome back to BizQuik! On today’s episode of BizQuikie Julie goes on a bit of a rant about how much we let our emotions control us. We don’t spend nearly enough time asking questions before reacting. We assume ill intent, we assume people want us to fail. We assume people are out to get us and are actively working to make our lives harder. When the reality is, people are generally too busy worrying about themselves to even consider us.
What would happen if we slowed down enough to ask “what does this mean?” or “is there a chance I’m wrong?” How much faster would we grow our businesses? Our confidence?
Also - make sure you thank a Veteran for their service. November 11th is Veteran’s Day and it is one holiday that we should honor with a vengeance.

Welcome back to BizQuik! Thanks for tuning into today’s episode of BizQuiker. Julie digs into one of the biggest lessons she learned while participating in 29029 Everesting earlier this month, the fact that silence reveals weakness.
When we aren’t surrounded by noise (podcasts, people talking, the television, radio, music, etc.) we are forced to spend time with our thoughts, and those thoughts will reveal to us where we most need to focus. Our thoughts guide us to our weak points, and those weak points represent growth. Well, they represent opportunities for growth. But you have to get silent in order to really hear them. And then you have to take action.
Silence reveals weakness. Thanks for tuning in!

Welcome back to BizQuik! Julie had quite the morning, spilling coffee grounds all over her kitchen floor. And that spill got her thinking about how frequently we need to slow down and assess what we are doing, essentially slowing down to ultimately go faster.
Spilled coffee grounds aren’t the best way to start a day, but things could be worse, there could be NO COFFEE!!!! Listen in as Julie talks about how addition by subtraction is a very productive approach to business (and life!).

Welcome back to BizQuik! Thanks for tuning in! On today’s episode of BizQuiker Julie addresses leadership, and how so frequently leaders today avoid difficult conversations because they don’t want to be uncomfortable.
We can tell ourselves it’s because we want to spare the feelings of our employees, customers, family members, and friends, but the hard truth is that we don’t have difficult conversations because we don’t want to be uncomfortable. We don’t like the idea of being the “bad guy” or of being the “mean boss”.
But when we avoid doing difficult things, we lose the opportunity to develop better leadership skills for ourselves and for those we need to have tough conversations with. Listen in, and let us know what you think.

Welcome back to BizQuik! In today’s episode of BizQuikie Julie breaks down her recent challenge of climbing 29,029 feet of elevation in 36 hours (the equivalent of Mount Everest). She talks about the need for in-game adjustments, just like when you’re running a business. Regardless of the amount of planning and preparing that you do, things don’t necessarily go as planned.
What did Julie learn during her ascents up the mountain, did she complete the goal, and will she do it again? Tune in to find out.
