Black Heart Gold Pants: for Iowa Hawkeyes fans

Ben & Harrison open the pod to talk Thanksgiving. Whose mom is the better cook and why isn't mac & cheese acceptable in the Midwest? They talk Iowa's win over Penn State and whether it is actually as good as it is. Then the Nebraska schadenfreude flows. Oh, does it flow. The pod ends with some excitement about the basketball team.

They also unbox the FOCO masks, which is visual content for an audio medium.

Ben & Harrison return to discuss the Hawkeyes' 35-7 win over Minnesota and take stock of the Iowa season at the halfway point, mainly how weird a lot of this has felt.

They discuss whether the 2-2 record has lived up to expectations and what players and units have exceed preseason prognostications. There's also extended Spencer Petras talk and whether this staff can get the best out of him the rest of the way.

They briefly look ahead to the Penn State game before the pod gets a little off the rails. Come enjoy the only Hawkeye podcast on the internet with two hosts who have spit-up on their shoulder.

This week in BHGP podcasts are brought to you by FOCO, where you can get the official masks & face covers of Hawkeye football.

Ben & Harrison exalt all that is great about the current state of the Iowa/Minnesota rivalry. The pettiness on both sides! The offense clicked in only 53 plays of offense. The defense is a Phil Parker masterpiece. The special teams made things easier. Getting it done on a Friday freed up their weekends for other stuff, too!

Go Hawks!

Ben & Harrison return to discuss the Iowa Hawkeyes' 49-7 win over the Michigan State Spartans after briefly recapping Ben's time on the links. Topics include: winning is the best tonic, is Kirk a sloppy dresser now, plenty of Charlie Jones love, Ben's keto diet, whether Iowa's starters played too long, the cowboy collar, and Riley Moss.

It's a Solo Party, as Harrison runs through some of his thoughts in the After Party. Charlie Jones as player of the game. Tory Taylor as runner up. Iowa's defense did what it does.

Ben and Harrison began by discussing Ben's cooking and this Alton Brown tweet. They move along to discuss the predictability of Iowa's loss to Northwestern (does the wind get too much credit in the Hawkeye loss?) and general grievances about the program.

After the break, they discuss whether they expect Ihmir Smith-Marsette back - some of which doen't age well considering Kirk Ferentz's discussion of the topic - and if attrition is likely to occur over the remainder of the season. They close with an unnamed basketball minute.

Sorry to the freshmen for not getting their countdown posts!
