Year of the Black Quarterback (#YOTBQB) The #YOTBQB MH & EJ explore the changing face of the NFL quarterback position, 50 years after Marlin Briscoe was drafted into the NFL as the league’s first black quarterback. While African-American quarterbacks lacked opportunity for decades, Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, Offensive Rookie of the Year Kyler Murray and electrifying players like Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, and Deshaun Watson are now among the many prominent black starting quarterbacks throughout the league.

“Black quarterbacks are redefining the NFL’s marquee position, creating a level of excitement and possibility that is thrilling for the game,” said Kevin Merida, ESPN Senior Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of The Undefeated.

Jacqueline Lomax - is an ISSA Certified Nutrition Coach and ISSA Certified Personal Trainer working as an online transformation coach. Jacqueline's journey takes us from Denver, Germany, to Las Vegas and all the obstacles to ultimate finding her passions of wanting to help people! Kendall Murphy, M.A., CHE, PGA The Assistant Director, PGA Golf Management Program at UNLV. "The Chameleon"
Listen as he takes us on his journey from Oakland, California ultimately to Las Vegas, NV. Kendall has three pillars that guide him. 1. Growing the game, 2. Diversify the golf industry and 3. Mentor the next generation to be better than me.
Strong family background in sports & business help Kendall find his way into a culturally abnormal path in golf. He takes us through the early days from when his mom dropped him off to the local community golf course to loving what he does!
We talk his game and understanding his handicap! The PGA professionals are top athletes like other leagues, golf maybe more so as the tour is the 1/2% of the 1%. A very mental game as it is you vs yourself!
Says there is a resort that has better hospitality than any Las Vegas property, The Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs as he takes us though the other job experiences up to arriving back to UNLV to help run the program that started his career. Under that in US there are only 18 PGA accredited program in the states and UNLV is one of the tops!
He talks about the history of the game with #CharlieSifford #BillPowell and others. EJ confessing his admiration for @cheyenne_woods Kendall promised the intro! We get back on track and talk about others in the game like #michellewie and the pressures they face. Kendall talks about the weight and pressure in this role early on as a black professional in golf. Finding peers for support and building a community to change some of the Major issues of the game.

In studio is someone who is not afraid of hard work. From his days in the "Hog Pin in south Georgia with his Grandfather" former NFL defensive Roy Heart Jr d-tackle knew he had what it took to change his situation. Learning at an early age two things; as third born an oldest son of 8 brothers and sisters had to grow up fast protect him & his sisters. Second, was his "Shoot your shot" moment, which is a very tough lesson to learn in the 9th grade!
Takes us through the draft process and surprised to be apart of the Seahawks and now being a forever member of the all time members of the 12th man after being selecting in the 1988 draft! Shares his time in Seattle as well has his time with the LA Raiders. Talks about how Al Davis wanted the Raiders in Las Vegas a long time ago!
What it was like it as a Los Angles Raider. How great it was to be on the team at that time, in the city at that time. Playing for a black head coach and what Art Shell demanded! He was in LA the time Magic Johnson made the announcement! The way world handled the HIV virus and now dealing with the Corona Virus.
After NFL played over seas for a bit after finding his ways to Las Vegas! Played for the Las Vegas Posse and never left. Since he has lived here seen many athletes move here before and help we are now becoming a sport & entertainment town.

Our producer hit the nail on the head with the title of Episode 8 "Perseverance" Samuel Coleman Jr ( @samcolemanjr :Instagram) was a late bloomer when it came to his love of hoops. Basketball was something that he had to work on even with the size and frame he was blessed with in 8th grade.

High school basketball coach bumped him up to varsity as playing 4 years of JV was embarrassing. Senior year garbage time and internal drive motivated Sam after no real college offers. He briefly get into school and finds himself injured in exhibition game, grades suffering and back in Baltimore on mom's couch kicked out of school. His strong black mother motivates, in a way only they can, Big Sam finds himself in an open gym opportunity were faith puts the right people in his life. Sam get's another chance with a scholarship to play basketball at Coppin State University, which is a public historically black university located in Baltimore, Maryland.

Big Sam takes us through his playing days from college, into to the NBA, D-league and international. Learned a few valuable lessons like; there are no fouls in Mexico league basketball, if you want it you better go get it, even if you have to walk and why we ALL need a weasel in our life!!!!

Now he is "Dunking Deals" as a real estate agent. Sam shares some humbling lows beginning his real estate career. Again his perseverance shines though as he passes the Nevada Real Estate Exam. Check out Sam's company Hoops for Homes ( @hoopsforhomes :Instagram) how he came up with the company name. Then he is blessed again to find another "weasel" in Aaron Taylor The Real Estate Guy.
