This is an introduction of who we are, the purpose of our podcast, and our mission and goal for the podcast futuristically.
Our goal was to find a way to bring our friends or people within our community that we revere onto the podcast. What greater time than now when socially distancing ourselves in an act of survival? For the first part of our 'Chillin' With the Homies' series, we have a lengthy conversation with our homie Nic. Tune in while we sonically fellowship about random topics.
COVID-19 brought the entire world to a halt and has even shaken multiple countries to their core. Like everyone else, we too, are affected by this aggressively contagious virus. It's times like this that make it clear how vital keeping your mental health in check is. Tune in as we discuss how we're dealing with the impact of COVID-19, and how we're keeping our mental health intact.
In this episode we discuss gentrification. At this point, many of us are familiar with the word. However, have we truly reflected on the complex nature of it? What roles do we play in it? Can it benefit us as a people, or does it solely rip us apart as a community? Join us as we discuss the complex nature of gentrification.
We're back off yet another hiatus. However, we plan on remaining consistent this time around. It's a new year, new decade, and we have so much to share with the world.
In this episode, we discuss the importance of support. We also share personal experiences surrounding the topic. Are we as supportive as we think we are? Are we being supported enough to advance our endeavors? What are the possible outcomes when support is non-existent? We attempt to find the answers to those questions. *Pre-recorded on 10/27/2019*
This episode focuses on the life (and death) of Botham Shem Jean, and the following events that transpired after his demise. On September 6, 2018, an off-duty police officer by the name of Amber Guyger barged into Botham's place of residence and murdered him. A year has passed since the murder of Botham Jean; which was a year that left countless people disheartened and desperate for justice. Unfortunately, after waiting over a year, justice was not served. We discuss our sentiments on the existence of Black people in America, and how we can overcome the systemic injustices that plague our very lives. Our hearts and prayers are with everyone that's negatively impacted by the killing of Botham Jean, especially his family and friends.
