On 28 August 1833, the Slavery Abolition Act was given Royal Assent and came into force on the following 1 August 1834. Its full bill title was ‘An Act for the Abolition of Slavery throughout the British Colonies; for promoting the Industry of the manumitted Slaves; and for compensating the Persons hitherto entitled to the Services of such Slaves’.

We revisit this historic legal act and provide insight into the real reasons for the abolition of the Triangle Slave Trade. Controlled Demolition.

In St. Louis, the parents and relatives of Michael Brown Jr. mark seven years since his murder by a White enforcement official. Covid-19 and the so called Delta variant continue to infect large populations globally, prompting a regression to masking and distancing in many regions.

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. The Pentagon announced that members of the armed services will be required to accept Covid-19 inoculations. In a growing number of regions and business, companies are taking a firmer stance that employees must be vaccinated and/or face stringent testing. Medical professionals as well as state and federal employees are also being cajoled to accept vaccinations. A substantial number of White and non-white workers have balked at requirements; some insisting they're quit before rolling up their sleeve. We'll see how C.O.W.S. listeners are responding to the increased pressure.

Welcome to this episode of BTR News with Scotty Reid, broadcasting from behind the enemy lines of USA Inc. As I said I would at the conclusion of the episode titled BTR News – The Willie Lynch Letter & The Black Attack On Black Identified Christians I will be sharing and responding to subscriber's comments.

In the episode, I discussed why it is incorrect behavior to be discourteous, and rude, and likely not a good strategy for "unifying black people". Particularly on any issues deemed important to the “community” at large when one group of Black people mock another group on a sensitive subject and area in their lives. Some of the rhetoric rises to the level of hate speech and religious discrimination.

I also found it puzzling that the group doing the most swears by the contents of the Willie Lynch letter in which the fictional Willie Lynch writes that if slave masters follow the psychological methods he lists, then slavers would control victims of slavery for 300 years. While some recognize squabbling, be rude and discourteous to would-be "allies" is unconstructive and needs to stop but for some reason don't recognize when they are being rude and discourteous to "black Christians" or anyone with religious/spiritual practices different from their own.

In this episode, I will share some of the feedback received on the Willie Lynch letter specifically and in the next episode or two, focus on the feedback received on the Afro-Christophobia portion of BTR News – The Willie Lynch Letter & The Black Attack On Black Identified Christians.

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the second study session on Woody Allen's Apropos of Nothing. One of the most critically acclaimed directors of all time, Woody Allen is a New York City and entertainment icon. In addition to his flicks, he's written books, Apropos of Nothing being his most recent. Published in 2020, the text examines his life and "romance" with Soon-Yi Previn. In addition to being non-white and decades younger than Allen, Previn was Allen's stepchild. Despite a damning Child Protective Services investigation and years of allegations of child rape and sexual abuse of children, Allen remains beloved my hoards of Whites. We examine this work for what it reveals about White culture. Last week's opening session saw Allen recount his youth as a competent baseball player and his love of girls at school. Allen describes his "thug life" parents in great deal. He says his father's dishonesty was a part of his DNA. Apparently, Allen's dad never saw a gun he didn't like, trafficked in stolen goods, and consorted with all manner of White hoodlums.

In a follow up to the last podcast, “Mali’s King Mansa Musa Was A Wealthy Slaver”, coincidently or by providence, a friend on Facebook shared an article published in 2018 by Face2FaceAfrica about a Ghanaian Prince sold into slavery in the 1700s after his father entrusted him to the captain of a slaver’s ship to transport him to England to study but instead was sold into slavery. Was this a tragedy or karma? While his father was able to secure his release, the story does not have a happy ending.

Recently I came across a meme featuring Malian King Mansa Musa and how a person wanted to see a film about the man who was deemed to be one of the wealthiest men who ever lived who gave so much gold away in Egypt on his famous trek in Africa, that it caused the gold markets to crash.

I was first introduced to King Mansa Musa back in high school in the ’80s when I saw one of those Budweiser marketing displays about the “Great Kings and Queens of Africa” in a bar that I was not to supposed to be in. I didn’t think anything of it other than cool, an African King. It was later when one of the former podcasters I knew used an image of Musa as his cover art. The show was in part about generating wealth. I then decided to look up information on King Musa and discovered he enslaved people and being a modern slavery abolitionist, I questioned the choice.

So coming across the meme armed with the information I had learned previously, I simply stated a fact which was that his wealth was acquired from gold mines worked by victims of slavery and that his “flossing” or “showing off” his wealth, put a target on Africa which brought more and more Arabs and Europeans to Africa.

Therefore in my own meme, in the description I wrote that I would like to see the film as well, but only if it is historically accurate. This resulted in some pushback which I will share on this podcast including the research by Balanta scholar by the name of Siphiwe Baleka who formerly identified as African American or Black.
