Hana and Stevie are back this week with the classic story of Cain and Abel. They talk about sacrifice versus tribute, how many people are actually on the Earth at this point, and maybe God just doesn’t like his vegetables. Plus Cain is a sassy B.

Ep.5 Rahab and the Spies
Topic: The Conquest of Jericho
Show Notes:
This week Hana and Stevie talk about the conquest of the ancient city of Jericho and the reconnaissance mission that started it all! Hana tries to translate Stevie’s ramblings for the listeners and they come out as pro-sex work and anti-work. We learn about the Hill of Foreskins, discuss which Hebrew names could also be cowboy names, and Hana is angry about something again.

First, an apology! We are moving so our episode publishing schedule is getting off. We promise to be better!
In this episode Stevie and Hana discuss that time Jesus exorcised the many spirits possessing a man banished from his village and haunting the local graveyard. Hana hates the “demoniac” and Stevie tries to change this into a Lord of the Rings podcast.

Each month that there are 5 Saturdays (the day of the week we aim to publish our episodes) we will publish a “mini” episode where we watch a Biblical movie and talk about it. This month we’re watching DreamWorks’ The Prince of Egypt. We talk about beautiful animation, the all-star cast, thinly veiled penis jokes, and a never-ending Hero’s Journey.

In the first installment of Moses' reluctant hero journey Stevie and Hana discuss the social dynamics that force Moses into the basket, they play fast and loose with the rules of grammar, and Hana gets angry about the Bible's lack of clear authorship.

The dead rising from their graves, discussions with ghosts, and updates from supernatural beings sounds more like Halloween than Easter, but whatever, we enjoy spooky talk all year long. In this Episode Stevie tells the story of Jesus’ Resurrection from the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John (even though they weren’t actually there) and Hana wants to know what your favorite dinosaur is.

In the inaugural episode co-hosts and married couple, Stevie and Hana, dive into the salacious story of King David’s affair with Bathsheba, a local woman who likes to bathe on rooftops. Listen as they discuss murder as cover up, transactional prayers, Nathan the Prophet, and the inaccuracy of Veggie Tales’ King George and the Rubber Ducky version of this story.

Stevie- The Bible is weird; like Giants, chimerical angels, and animated skeletons weird.
Hana- It is also really dramatic; like floods that cover the entire earth, being swallowed whole by a whale, and rivers of blood dramatic.
Stevie - Wait … those are all really weird.
Hana - Yeah. The Bible: It’s Weirder than you think.
Stevie - I’m Stevie, a believer in God and the message of Jesus. I know the Bible pretty well having read it through multiple times.
Hana- and I’m Hana. A pagan who knows basically just the pop culture version like snakes and apples and burning bushes.
Stevie - Each episode I will tell Hana a different story from the Bible. We will dissect it, discuss the possibility of its truthfulness, and tell a lot of jokes along the way.
Hana - While I don’t believe in God, I do believe in the power and value of myth and think that it is important to understand this text and its influence on our society even though I am someone outside of that organized religion - a literal heathen.
Stevie - So check out Blasphemous Psodcast anywhere you listen to podcasts by searching Blasphemous Psodcast - spelt p s o d c a s t. Get it? Psodcast like psalm?
Hana - See! We’re really funny!
Stevie- Tune in to listen as things get blasphemous when we discuss the juicy more obscure stories in addition to the well-known heavy hitters.
Hana - If you have ever wanted to learn more about the Bible without fear of being preached to and don't mind terrible puns this is the podcast for you!
