In this episode of Geek Cinema Society, Brett Stewart, Nicole Davis, David Luzader, and their guest, Bandrew Scott, delve into 2006’s ‘The Da Vinci Code.’
Why did we cover The DaVinci Code? Dinged if we know! (Occupational hazard of using a crowdsourced list, we suppose.) This episode, while Nicole is away, co-hosts Brett Stewart, David Luzader, and guest Bandrew Scott of Podcastage delve into theology geekery. Obscure, arcane, and debatable pieces of text are the bread and wine of the religion geek, and The Da Vinci Code fed the multitudes on it. The movie is based on Dan Brown’s popular novel, and joins the ranks of movies that focus on the weirder aspects of the Roman Catholic church, such as secret societies, rites of exorcism, assertions of divinity walking the earth, and predictions about the end of the world. Does David and Brett’s world come to an end because they have to discuss this oddity? Let’s find out!
For listeners who would like to follow along and treat Geek Cinema Society as a film club of sorts, we will be watching ‘Demolition Man’ next! Following that, we’ll be watching ‘Kentucky Fried Movie.’
