The first half of the episode focused entirely on Ukitake’s backstory, including his first meeting with Kurosaki in front of Yamamoto, young Retsu, and Chojiro. We dive into Ukitake’s history, the Mimihagi shrine, and his deep conversations with Shunsui Kyoraku. There are emotional farewells with Retsu, and we even see Ukitake’s final moments as he apologizes to Rukia before Mimihagi takes over.
