Nebraska basketball just made history — the Huskers are in the Sweet 16 for the first time ever after a wild finish vs Vanderbilt, and now they’ve got a familiar opponent up next. Nebraska hoops ended the regular season with an OT win over Iowa — a game that shouldn’t have been that close, but the Huskers showed toughness and chemistry when it mattered most. We break down the slow start, the glaring lack of size, why Rienk Mast has to be more consistent, and how the OT finish can translate to tournament basketball.

And here’s the big part: with that win, Nebraska finishes No. 2 in the Big Ten and locks up a double-bye — massive in a conference this deep.

Then we switch gears to spring football. Nebraska just held a 150-play scrimmage, and both coordinators had strong notes — especially about Anthony Colandrea’s mobility and pace, plus defensive transfers standing out as Rob Aurich installs his scheme. The Huskers shot 38.8% and went 5-of-24 from three, and the slow-start problem is officially costing them. We start with Nebraska men’s basketball coming through with another big one — a statement road win at USC 82–67, led by Pryce Sandfort dropping 32 as the Huskers pulled away with a dominant second half. We talk about the two truths that keep showing up: when Nebraska locks in defensively for 40 minutes, the ceiling changes — and this team has become elite at separating after halftime. But we also address the concern: another slow start. Down at the half again is playing with fire, and that can’t be the habit if you’re trying to make a real run in March. Plus, we look ahead to the next one: Nebraska vs UCLA on Tuesday.

Then we give the Lady Huskers their flowers after a regular-season finale blowout — Nebraska rolled Rutgers 93–52, and Britt Prince flirted with a triple-double: 14 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists. That’s the kind of “enter March with confidence” performance you want.

To close, we pivot to football with Husker representation at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Emmett Johnson showed out with a 4.56 in the 40 on his second attempt, plus a strong 10-yard split, a 35.5-inch vertical, and a 10-foot broad jump. And DeShon Singleton went limited but made it count — a 39.5-inch vertical and 10’10” broad, numbers that highlight real explosiveness as he heads toward Nebraska’s Pro Day on March 25.

We start with a full Huskers vs Maryland recap, and the headline is simple: Nebraska is finally stacking the kind of performances we’ve been begging for. The Huskers played great team basketball in the first half, got off to a fast start, and set the tone defensively by making every look difficult for Maryland. Then they came out even stronger after halftime — a better second half, even more connected defense, and the kind of game where you could feel Nebraska imposing its will.

But to take the next step, we’ve got to talk about the interior. Nebraska needs more from Rienk Mast — more consistency, less foul trouble, and more of that “star power” we know he has. If he becomes a steady two-way presence, it raises the ceiling of this team in March.

Then we flip over to football because spring training started this week, and the storyline is wide open.

We open with Nebraska hoops suffering another tough loss to a ranked opponent — an overtime loss to Purdue — and the frustrating part is the same themes we’ve been calling out all season showed up again: a slow start, losing the rebounding battle, foul trouble, and not getting to the free-throw line enough. Nebraska did fight back in the second half to force OT, but once you get to overtime, the margin is thin — and Purdue won the glass when it mattered most. We also talk about Rienk Mast fouling out, why it hurt, and how Nebraska’s lack of size in the paint keeps getting exposed. With only seven games left, it’s officially cleanup time — because these mistakes can’t keep repeating.

Then we shift to Husker football as Nebraska announces the Spring Game will be in March and tickets are officially on sale — we’ll hit what that means for fans and the early storylines heading into spring ball.
