Psalm 40:4 gives us a simple but powerful reminder: “Blessed is the man that maketh the Lord his trust.” It’s easy to allow our confidence to drift toward people, influence, power, or the promises of the world. We can place our hope in circumstances that seem secure in the moment but ultimately cannot sustain us. This verse brings us back to a foundational truth—real blessing comes when our trust is placed fully in God. While God may work through people and situations in our lives, our ultimate hope must remain anchored in the One who never changes. When we resist the temptation to follow pride or believe the lies of the world and instead put our faith and confidence in the Lord, we find the stability and blessing that only He can provide.
