Psalm 102 reminds us how quickly life passes. The psalmist compares our days to “a shadow that declineth” and to grass that withers, emphasizing the temporary nature of our lives and everything around us. It’s easy to place our identity in careers, relationships, achievements, or possessions, but all of those things are fleeting. When they change or disappear, we can find ourselves feeling lost and uncertain. In contrast, the psalm declares, “But thou, O Lord, shalt endure forever.” God alone is eternal, unchanging, and completely dependable. That means our greatest security is not found in the temporary things of this world, but in a relationship with Him. As life continues to move quickly, choose to anchor your identity, your hope, and your future in the One who never changes. What is built on God will endure long after everything else has passed away.
