Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal's 2018 movie Blindspotting was a critical success despite tepid results in the box office.  From Fruitvale Station, to Atlanta, to Masters of None it has been compared to an increasing medium of work that takes a hard look at societal issues (gentrification, incarceration, race). The television adaptation sticks with the Oakland centric storyline, but focusses on Ashley, played by Jasmine Cephas Jones.
