🟠 MT.GOX Exchange will begin distributing $9 billion in bitcoin to creditors in July 2024, after a decade-long wait. The disbursements will include approximately $9 billion in bitcoin (BTC) and $50.8 million in (BCH), sent to designated exchanges. Mt Gox halted operations in February 2014 after losing 850,000 BTC, but later recovered 202,000 BTC in March 2014. The trustee emphasized that the repayment process would comply with financial regulations and urged creditors to be patient. 🟠 Also according to data from Santiment AG on June 23, there were 9,923 Bitcoin whale transactions (each exceeding $100,000) over the previous two days, marking a 42% decrease from the 17,091 transactions recorded in the two days prior.

🚨 On the 19th Arkham Intelligence stated German-government labeled wallet moved nearly 6,500 BTC. Some transactions were sent to the crypto exchanges Kraken Digital Asset Exchange and Bitstamp

🔵 Ripple Labs is facing another legal battle as a civil securities lawsuit against its CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, has been approved by a California federal court judge. 📊 As per a Bloomberg report, British multinational bank Standard Chartered is creating a Bitcoin and Ethereum trading desk in London. Standard Chartered is launching a Bitcoin and Ether trading desk in its FX unit based in London, becoming one of the first major global banks to enter direct cryptocurrency trading. The move follows partnerships with regulators to meet institutional demand and supports the bank’s strategy in the digital asset ecosystem. 🟢 Consensys mentioned via Twitter (X) that the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has notified them that it is closing its investigation into Ethereum 2.0. ❗ The decision follows a letter Consensys sent on June 7, asking the SEC to confirm that the May ETH ETF approvals, which were premised on ETH being a commodity, meant the agency would close its Ethereum 2.0 investigation.

❗ Chinese telecom provider Coolpad plans to invest $13.5 million in Bitcoin mining rigs for North America. They intend to acquire 2,700 Bitcoin mining servers from Hong Kong-based JingYun Intelligent Technology, though the manufacturer of the servers was not specified. 🚨SEC vs Ripple $102.6 M settlement offer 🚨Riot Platforms, Inc. V/S Bitfarms 🟠 MicroStrategy to buy more hashtag#BTC 👮🏻‍♂️Owners of Darknet- “Empire Market” charges

🚨SEC vs Ripple — Update
- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission sought a hefty $2 Billion penalty from Ripple. However, this has been lowered to $102.6 Million s just a day after Ripple filed a legal brief arguing that the original $2 Billion penalty was unreasonable.

❗ A legal document shared by defence lawyer James Filan via Twitter (Now X) revealed a substantial reduction in the SEC’s proposed settlement amount for Ripple. Info here https://lnkd.in/dTBd5Gcu 

❗ Ripple argued that the SEC typically seeks penalties between 0.6% and 1.8% of the defendant’s revenue in such cases, and proposed a settlement of only $10 Million. The SEC, however, rejected Ripple’s comparison, claiming it was irrelevant to their case. 

🟠 Important to note
- Accepting the $102.6 million settlement wouldn’t clarify XRP’s legal status, leaving ambiguity for Ripple.
- Rejecting the settlement could lead to a lengthy court battle with an uncertain outcome and a potentially harsher penalty.

🚨 Riot Platforms 🆚 Bitfarms: 
The corporate battle between crypto miners Riot Platforms and Bitfarms has escalated. On June 11, Riot increased its stake in Bitfarms to 13.1% by acquiring six million shares worth over $111 million. This move followed Bitfarms’ suggestion of a “poison pill” defense to prevent Riot from reaching a 15% stake. Riot’s earlier acquisition proposal was rejected by Bitfarms. Internal issues at Bitfarms, including the firing and subsequent lawsuit from former CEO Geoffrey Morphy, add to the ongoing dispute.

🟠 MicroStrategy, co-founded by Michael Saylor, plans to raise up to $786 million through the issuance of unsecured senior convertible notes. The funds will be used to buy more Bitcoin and for general corporate purposes. MicroStrategy currently holds 214,400 BTC, making it the largest institutional holder of the cryptocurrency. They plan to issue $500 million worth of unsecured senior convertible notes to buy up more BTC and further increase its record holding, the firm upsized that offering today to $700 million. 🟠 Owners of “Empire Market” Charged in Chicago With Operating $430 Million Dark Web Marketplace Official info via U.S. Department of Justice here https://lnkd.in/d6Ex3tpf Thomas Pavey and Raheim Hamilton have been charged in Chicago for operating “Empire Market,” a dark web marketplace that facilitated over $430 million in illegal transactions using cryptocurrency between 2018 and 2020. They face charges of drug trafficking, fraud, counterfeiting, and money laundering, with potential life sentences. The investigation seized $75 million in cryptocurrency, cash, and precious metals. Both are in custody and presumed innocent until proven guilty.

- Terraform Labs will pay the SEC $4.47 billion in a settlement for the Terra ecosystem collapse, which caused $40 billion in investor losses. The settlement includes fines and penalties, with former CEO Do Kwon personally liable for $204 million. He must transfer $4.7 million into escrow and liquidate crypto assets to cover these costs. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit accused Terraform and Kwon of selling unregistered securities and fraud. The collapse of TerraUSD in 2022 led to significant losses.
