Jillian Godsil meets CryptoHub founder Eliran Ouzan – an entrepreneur who believes crypto is 10 years behind Web2.  At the start of our conversation, Eliran Ouzan makes two key observations. The first is that when he found Web3 he loved the sense of community, the real ability to be able to connect with a project and moreover react with it.  

“Supporters of Web3 projects can make a real difference to the project – their voice is heard,” he points out.  “They can communicate directly with the founders and in some cases vote directly on the direction of the project. This is not possible in Web2. For example, I might think Facebook is awesome but if I hold shares (unless I hold like a lot) I am not going to have any impact on the way the company is run.”  

The second observation is that while the technology is tremendous the marketing is not.  “Web3 began as a technically inspired philosophy with the emphasis on the tech. Even after 13 years and the growing momentum, the marketing is still way behind traditional Web2 companies.”

Giovanni's background Giovanni speaks to Lisa about his background in tech, which he has been working in for the last 14 years. Most recently he worked in ecommerce and machine learning. This is the experience he draws on for his current work at AgrusNFT.   ArgusNFT  Argus NFT is an AI powered NFT fake detection platform. It has eyes on different blockchains and scans for duplicate NFTs.   

With these NFTs the technology can check which NFT was created first thus detecting which is a copy. It protects NFT artists work and protects buyers from buying a fake asset.   

At the moment there is one recurring word in conversations about NFTs: scam. The mission, Giovanni says, is to give back credibility to the NFT industry.

Dan Sutherland speaks to Jillian about how web3 technology has enabled Self Group to bring the human concepts of trust into an online setting.   

While building the company Dan and his team had lots of ideas about where they wanted the company to go. As well as building the concept of human trust, they wanted to create a service where people could consolidate the online versions of themselves into one electronic self.   

How did blockchain become part of the business?  When COVID hit Dan wanted to be proactive in protecting his company and his employees jobs as they were building the service. They had a shift in strategy and started focusing on R&D.   

They looked what they already had and what new tech they could find.   

Elements of blockchain aligned well with their goals, such as decentralization.   

Jillian noted Dan's out of the box thinking and he gives credit to his dyslexia. He says a number of people on his team are dyslexic and he is a firm believer in dyslexic thinking giving a fresh perspective.

Remi talks to Jillian on this week's podcast about democratizing financial services. He believes that in a world so connected with telecommunications we should all have equal access to financial services.   

People who lack access to basic financial services are forced to stay at the same income level that they have always been and lack the opportunities to build wealth, Remi says.   

"It shouldn't be like this".    

Crypto somewhat offers a solution to this but there are more elements that need to be taken into consideration and this is what Alluo is trying to do. Alluo is a DAO but users don't need to use or understand crypto. They will have all the benefits of crypto but not need the extensive knowledge required in normal crypto applications.
