  • Justice Illuminate Red Rocks With Dance Classics and Jaw-Dropping Production

More than a decade since their last set at Red Rocks, Justice returned May 25th with a sold-out show that was nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Touring in support of 2024's scintillating Hyperdrama album, the legendary French duo transformed the famed amphitheater with a performance that was equal parts auditory and visual spectacle.

Justice, who are revered for their cinematic approach to live shows, brought a set that ebbed and flowed through many genres including electro, French house, nu-disco and indie-dance. The show spanned their discography with intent, ranging from early classics like "D.A.N.C.E." and the thunderous "Genesis" to Hyperdrama highlights like "Neverender" and "Mannequin Love."

But what truly elevated the night was the precision of the visual production. Every track had its own dedicated light choreography, making each moment distinct and emotionally resonant. Lights enveloped the stage from every angle, pointed into the crowd, washed over the performers and illuminated the floor itself.

Still, it never felt gratuitous. The production team paired minimalism and maximalism with discipline: subtle strobes and crucifix-shaped LED flashes gave way to all-out barrages of color and light at just the right moments.

An on-and-off drizzle only added to the magic, enhancing the visual spectacle and deepening the communal energy. Rather than disrupting the moment, it bonded the crowd under a shared sense of being part of something singular. At its core, the night was about connection—between artist and audience, light and sound, tension and release.

Regardless of where Justice rank on your personal list of favorites, experiencing their live show is essential for anyone serious about dance music. Few acts can so seamlessly fuse a dynamic, expansive set with a visual production of such technical sophistication.

In other words, when Justice come to a city near you, don’t miss the opportunity.

  • Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg's Daughter Struck by Car in Ibiza, Suffers "Severe" Head Trauma

A routine night out with friends turned into a life-threatening emergency for the daughter of Adam Beyer, who says the young girl, Uma, suffered "severe" head trauma over the weekend after being hit by a car in Ibiza.

Beyer, the founder of influential techno label Drumcode Records and one of Sweden's most prominent electronic music artists, shared details of the accident in a social media post. He says Uma was crossing the street with friends when she was struck by a car traveling "at fairly high speed."

She was then airlifted from Ibiza to a hospital in Mallorca, where she has been receiving intensive care. Beyer and his former wife, fellow DJ Ida Engberg, have been maintaining a constant bedside vigil, taking turns to stay with their daughter around the clock.

"Over the last five days we have gone from not knowing if she would survive to seeing her talk, eat, smile and slowly but surely come back to us," Beyer wrote. "She had an angel by her side and I can only describe it as a miracle!"

The electronic music artist community has rallied around the family during this difficult period, with Tiësto, Sebastian Ingrosso, Charlotte de Witte, NERVO, Sara Landry and more reaching out with support on social media.

"You deserve only good things," commented Joseph Capriati. "Miracles happen for a reason."

"All best wishes for you guys in these times… praying for a speedy recovery," added Armin van Buuren.

Drumcode today announced that Beyer will make the short trip from Mallorca to perform at the label's event in Barcelona on Saturday, June 14th.

Miami's Club Space is flipping the script on Father's Day this year with a unique celebration for dads who love house music just as much as they love tee time and firing up the grill.

Scheduled for Sunday, June 15th, the event invites fathers and their party-loving families to spend the day together under the sun on the venue's iconic rooftop.

  • mau5trap Seeking Producer Submissions for Next "We Are Friends" Compilation

mau5trap is accepting producer submissions for We Are Friends, Vol. 12, marking the return of the label's flagship compilation series, Billboard Dance reports.

Scheduled for release in January 2026, the compilation will be the series' first volume since 2023 and the first since Create Music Group acquired the label's catalog earlier this year.

Founded by deadmau5 in 2007, mau5trap has consistently served as a launchpad for boundary-pushing electronic artists. With a track record of championing both rising talent and established innovators, We Are Friends remains one of the most influential compilations in electronic music. The series has historically helped boost the careers of now-prominent names including REZZ, Kasablanca and the late i_o, along with recurring contributions from deadmau5 himself.

For producers looking to break into the scene or align with an iconic record label, the window is officially open. Artists can submit their work for consideration here.

  • Jonathan Mayers, Co-Founder of Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, Dead at 51

Jonathan Mayers, the co-founder of Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, has died at the age of 51, the festivals announced this week.

Mayers was a driving creative force behind the events, two of North America’s most beloved music festivals. He co-founded Superfly Entertainment and helped launch Bonnaroo in 2002, which quickly became a model for community-driven festival experiences.

Six years later, Mayers helped bring Outside Lands to life in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, where his blend of imagination and detail transformed the space into one of the Bay Area's top music festivals. From the whimsical bridge at the Lands End stage and the Ranger Dave statue, his vision shaped the festival's playful ethos.

"His imagination knew no bounds, and his commitment to joy and wonder shaped the spirit of this festival in ways too numerous to count," Outside Lands wrote in a tribute on Instagram. "More than anything, we will miss his unwavering dedication to bringing people together, his passion for pushing boundaries, his infectious laugh, and his ability to tap into the inner child in all of us."

A cause of death for Mayers has not yet been revealed.

Bonnaroo's proprietors announced they are honoring the late exec by planting a tree on the festival's grounds, colloquially referred to as "The Farm," in his memory. They also paid homage on social media, calling him a "creative force" and thanking him for decades of inspiration. Bonnaroo returns tomorrow, June 12th.

We at EDM.com extend our heartfelt support to Jonathan Mayers, his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

  • Two Friends Pivot to Central Park After Cancellation of Brooklyn Mirage Show

Amid ongoing issues with Brooklyn Mirage's delayed 2025 season opening, Two Friends' scheduled show Friday, June 13th has officially been moved.

The "Big Bootie Mix" duo will instead perform at Central Park's SummerStage on Friday, September 12th, they announced this week. They took to Instagram to address the situation, expressing regret for the inconvenience and emphasizing their team's efforts in finding a solution.

"Whole team been hard at work the last few weeks figuring out best solutions and as much as we wish we could stick to the plan, we will have to reschedule," the duo wrote. "We’re really sorry about the circumstances, we know many of you have spent time and money on travel, took off work, and have accommodations so we’ve been doing everything we can to get this figured out asap."

The change follows a series of setbacks for the venue's long-awaited reopening. After months of heavily promoted renovations, a planned May 1st reopening featuring techno superstar Sara Landry was halted at the last minute after failing inspections by New York City's Department of Buildings.

Since then, scheduled shows have been continuously forced to relocate or postpone. Brooklyn Mirage CEO Josh Wyatt, who took the reins in October with lofty plans to overhaul the famed venue, was ultimately ousted amid the turmoil and replaced by nightlife veteran Gary Richards.

As the Mirage's reopening remains uncertain, SummerStage is quickly becoming one of the city’s most reliable new homes for displaced electronic music events. REZZ recently moved her show there as well, transforming the open-air venue into an unexpected "PORTAL" party May 30th.

All tickets purchased through DICE for Two Friends' vacated Mirage show will automatically be honored for the new date and venue, and full refunds are available through 5pm ET on Thursday, June 12th.

  • Dubstep Artist Olie Bassweight Found Dead in New Zealand

New Zealand DJ and dubstep producer Olie Bassweight was found dead at his residence in Wellington's Newtown neighborhood on Saturday evening, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The body of the artist, whose real name was Oliver Hayes, was discovered after police were called to the scene around 7:15pm, according to Detective Inspector Nick Pritchard. A post-mortem examination is now being conducted, he said in a statement.

In a Facebook post, Hayes' sister Louise said "he was unexpectedly found dead" and suggested foul play may have been involved, although authorities have not disclosed whether they are treating the death as suspicious.

"There is a police investigation," she wrote. "It seems something terrible might have happened to him. We wait for answers."

Authorities are seeking to speak with anyone who may have encountered Hayes, 40, in the days leading up to his death, particularly residents of the apartment complex where he lived. One neighbor, who lives in a nearby apartment, reported hearing "screaming" between 6pm and 7pm on Saturday but said he was unsure of the source, according to Stuff.

Hayes was a stalwart of Aotearoa's electronic music community prior to his death. His music, according to his Beatport profile, "conjures images of the Aotearoan landscape - a geomusicalogical [sic] symbiosis forged through attending and playing at many outdoor festivals located throughout the beautiful South Island of New Zealand."

  • NERVO Comments Fuel Hopes for Release of Posthumous Avicii Collaboration

A grainy video clip from Tomorrowland 2011, recently posted by an archival Instagram account, has reignited interest in a long-shelved collaboration between Avicii and NERVO.

The performance took place during the height of the Swedish DJ's career, just a few months before he released his generational dance anthem "Levels." The footage shows Avicii and NERVO playing a euphoric, unreleased track tentatively titled "Enough Is Enough."

In the post's comment section, the sister duo offered a tantalizing update: "The track is hopefully coming out soon !!!!... These were such great exciting times for everyone."

The path to release, however, remains complicated. NERVO in 2021 revealed they had removed Avicii's contributions from the track due to clearance issues with the late producer's estate, announcing an updated version titled "Let Me Show You Love" without his contributions.

"It isn't an Avicii collab because his family won't allow us, so we're just remaking an old song we wrote which Tim did a track to," Olivia Nervo said at the time. "He called it 'Enough Is Enough,' but the original song is called 'Let Me Show You Love.'"

Whether this newfound momentum will prompt a resolution with Avicii's estate remains uncertain, but the reemergence of the original recording has stoked speculation across EDM forums on platforms like Reddit. You can check out the post below.
