This, along with my supposed interest in repealing the right of women to vote. Why on earth would I ever do something like that? So when die-hard defenders of Candace try to say, as they will try to say, “Candace never said that Erika Kirk was in on the plot to kill Charlie!” or “Candace never denied that Tyler Robinson did it!” the reply should be, “Roll the tape.” And the way you can tell that radical relativism is the captain of their mental ship now is that rolling the tape does not matter to them in the slightest.

In my last letter, I was emphasizing the prophetic office of Christ. He was the greater prophet who had been promised by Moses (Deut. 18:15). But I also need to present Christ to you as the one who holds two additional offices. John Calvin famously described the Lord’s three combined offices as the crucial offices of prophet, priest, and king.

The Supreme Court’s failure last week to uphold the president’s executive order on birthright citizenship was genuinely disappointing. At the same time, it should not be an occasion for outrage or despair. There is all kinds of maneuvering room here. If He did not rise, then as the apostle Paul noted, we Christians are the most pitiable creatures ever (1 Cor. 15:19). If He did rise from the dead, then He is the promised Messiah that the entire Old Testament was pointing toward. That would make the Jews the most to be pitied. This would mean that the ingenuity of a thousand rabbis can’t put the Old Testament jig saw puzzle together . . .

So let us talk about that impotent contemporary ritual called the “land acknowledgment.” Nowadays when an event or activity is going to be taking place somewhere, or an institution is opening, the proceedings will often begin with a land acknowledgment. This is a little empty gesture recognizing the indigenous people who used to live there. Along with the implication that nothing will be done about it.

Cultural gaslighting is attempted when people in charge of something take some absurdity, throw a saddle on it, and then stand next to it, booted, spurred, and ready to ride. For example, the absurdity could be saying that the attempted beheading in Ireland was the result of us not being welcoming and inclusive enough. And believe me, they will ride that absurdity as long as the people out there put up with it. Who are you going to believe? Me or your lying eyes?
