For the end of Pride Month, we are discussing the fandom’s favorite couple, Louis and Lestat.

We dissect the infamous couple’s flaws and strengths in The Vampire Chronicles novels as well as AMC’s television series. Although it is apparent that Louis and Lestat love one another, we explore whether or not Louis and Lestat actually understand each other.

Our host Grace reads “the reunion scene” from Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire" novel and compares it to Louis and Lestat’s reunion in the season two finale. Mariam also reads Lestat’s letter to Louis from season two and we discuss why it was so important to the couple. When and why did Lestat write it for Louis? How does Lestat’s love for Louis tie back into his relationship with Nicki?

During the month of June, we are comparing and contrasting Lestat’s two ultimate love stories in The Vampire Chronicles: Nicolas de Lenfent and Louis de Pointe du Lac. Starting off with “Nickistat”, we read and dissect three important scenes in Nicolas and Lestat’s love story from The Vampire Lestat novel, including how they met, how they were separated, and where it all went wrong.

We also discuss how Lestat never fully stops grieving for Nicki after his death and is haunted by his love for Nicki for the rest of his immortal life.
