This week on the Bloom Where You’re Planted podcast, we talk with our friend Barb Bradbury, operator of Hurricane Run Farm in Otway, Ohio.
Hurricane Run is an organic farm producing a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, jams, jellies, baked goods, and granola. The farm is also a host farm for Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms - part of a worldwide effort to link visitors with organic farmers, promote an educational exchange, and build a global community conscious of ecological farming practices.
We talk a little about organic farming, making homemade maple syrup, playing the banjo, spending 29 years working in different positions at Shawnee State University, Portsmouth Connex - a series of proposed activity routes (bicycle/running/walking) throughout Portsmouth, and it's surrounding communities, and Southern Ohio Folklife, which researches, supports, documents, and networks folklife within the southern Ohio region.
