In this Big BOAT Interview, Caroline speaks to Sebastian about the sudden, violent weather event that sank the 56-metre Bayesian off Sicily. The tragedy is part of a broader story about longer storm seasons, freak weather and unpredictable winds – changing global weather patterns ­that are already having an impact on the marine industry. Sebastian explains the precision with which extreme weather can be predicted, and the kind of conditions that should raise alarm bells at sea.
