A country girl, a distinguished psychiatrist, a musician and the first female Governor of New South Wales: Dame Marie Bashir led an extraordinary life before her passing this week at the age of 95. 

NSW Premier Chris Minns described her as "an extraordinary Australian and one of New South Wales’ most respected public servants" and has announced a state funeral will be held.
