Local FL House Rep. Joe Harding addresses the current property insurance crisis in Florida. Consumers are being hit with major rate increases, and policy cancellations. Litigation has also increased, and are contributing to rate hikes. Recent legislation will help, but may take time to have a direct impact. Legislators now are trying to clear the way for more competition among companies writing insurance, increase use of insurance adjusters, and limit the need for litigation to solve cases.

Harding also is the author of the Parental Rights in Education bill passed into law. He continues to be surprised by the complaints of opponents, and by the depth of sexual education now in some Florida textbooks and schools. And many local School Boards aren’t aware of the material. The law has fueled parental involvement and School Boards taking action.
