Bob Rose talks with the just-fired head of Gainesville's large city utility. Ed Bielarski laid out negotiating the buyout of Gainesville's biomass plant, saving the city over $1-billion. He discussed GRU's application for the University of Florida's new power deal, and how the city never was really in the running to win UF's approval. Bielarski talked about the City Commission's desires for renewable energy, financing, and negotiations with various governmental entities. He says he is seriously running for as Mayor of Gainesville in 2022, and talked about his ideas regarding GRU's fiscal matters and support from entities across the city.
