FL House Rep. Chuck Clemmons from Alachua and Gilchrist counties is introducing legislation to allow voters to change the Alachua County Commission from at-large districts to single member districts. Present county leaders loudly object to the proposal. Clemmons outlined his reasons for giving voters in the diverse county the ability to elect commissioners from districts that represent local constituencies, as opposed to the overall county. Dr. John Littel talked about COVID-19 in central and north-central Florida. He discussed the value of natural immunity, discrimination against the unvaccinated, omicron variant patients are responding better to early treatment than those infected with the delta variant, and vitamin D3 and zinc are critical preventatives. Omicron early indications are that it is more easily spread, but he is seeing far less serious respiratory distress than delta.
