"Even lighting another candle doesn't take away from the flame that started the fire"

This is something that Triple Decker Candle Co owner said to me on our first meeting, in regard to helping others and paying it forward. Pretty much sets the tone to the type of person she is.

On this episode we chat about how, with no real creative background (according to her :)) Johanna had a love for burning candles and decided to do some research into making her own. This all just started in June of 2020 - mid pandemic! Who didn't need something to do! She did a ton of research into the best, safest, most organic products, processes and even small business insurance.

Johanna's business has since taken off to be sold locally in at least 4 stores, on line at Triple Decker Candle Co. and she's giving back to her Dorchester community too!

On this episode I'm joined by the owners of Lux Lab Studio in Medford, MA. Emily Hernandez & Arielle Moynihan barely knew each other last year when they both found themselves trying to figure out what to do next. Being in the salon/hair industry that took a big hit during the beginning of the pandemic these ladies decided, "lets just open a salon". And that they did! They took the risk on the business and each other! And it's more than paying off! They became fast friends/business partners that are very open about their communication styles, their differences and even their fights! No matter what, they learn from it and each other while making their dream a reality! We talk about hair trends, products and the latest side vs middle part controversy!

My guest on Episode 52 (WOW, it's been a year of What Moves Her!) is a woman like so many of my guests who has followed her passion. She had the guts enough to know that her career in teaching had, in her words "run its course"....she has an eye for style and decorating that she felt a pull toward. With the incredible support of her single mom who helped her get the degree to teach and her husband, she made the switch! My guest on this episode, like so many others is taking a passion of hers and turning it into a business! Artist Sally Lee has taken her love for pottery, ceramics and pups and created made-to-order ceramic pet-ware!

She shares her love for her pup Hugo and how the pandemic had her switching gears from in person teaching to making these bowls.

My guests on this episode have an incredible story. I'm joined by Emma & Raquel Teixeira (yes I butchered it a few times), co-owners of Vistas Cleaning Service. They not only tell the story of how they came to own and run their service but also how they met. They were open about the beautiful story of meeting on line and breaking through language barriers while falling in love. Necessity is definitely the mother of invention! My guest on this episode saw a need for a natural sun tan product after feeling her teething daughter put her mouth on her shoulder! And it went from there. Paula Hoss, Founder and CEO of CLN & DRTY Natural Skin Care began making and selling her products to her friends. She shares on this episode her own skin care woes and once again went to work developing a product to heal her skin rather than continue to torture it!
