This brave young woman, like so many, found herself in a place of reevaluating over the past year. She made the leap from teaching to being a mortgage lender in the middle of the pandemic. Fast forward, trying to work from home in a completely different field with no one nearby to ask questions. Well, she did have one person, her boyfriend (now fiance, congrats!!!) who also works in the industry but for a different company!
We talk about how she's taken things she's learned as a teacher to incorporate into her new career in addition to the group she's cofounded (Women's Real Estate Collective) a place for women in the industry to connect & collaborate!
I met this amazing woman when I saw that she was teaching Shuffle classes at a studio in my building. Within minutes I was sucked in to her energy and knew I needed to have her as a guest on this podcast.
Not only did she decide to go to school for Expressive Art Therapy at what some would consider "later in life" she continues to chase her passion and bring it to others!
We talk about the history of the "shuffle" dance, how she managed to keep teaching it during the pandemic and my humbling experience over the past few weeks with her!
The Title of This Podcast is the mantra for this lady! Julie, like me, was a Broadcast major in college. When she dipped her toe in and found it wasn't for her, she took another position, at a hospital. Which lead her to nursing. She's been an RN at Children's Hospital in Boston and a couple years ago found herself drawn to the growing beauty industry of injectables.
Julie has since started her own business helping clients with Botox injections, fillers and even Vitamin Shots!
We talked about the "zoom effect"....yes, it's a thing. With people looking at themselves on camera all day! Also, a nice giveaway for a What Moves Her Listener!
Their business started just like that, with that simple question, "wanna start a business?"
Nicole Hayes & Michaela Thorne became fast friends after moving in next to one another in Tewksbury, MA. Not only are they friends, now they're business partners as "The Woodworking Ladies" making everything from signs to shelves, stools, dog beds and more! A lot of this came to be during the height of the pandemic and now they're coming up on a year in business!
And did I mention they're doing all of this while raising 5 boys? And it's definitely a family affair. Husbands, kids, parents, neighbors and friends all lend a hand by donating wood, handing down tools and more!
Strap in! On this episode I sit down with the force that is this woman, Constance, "Connie" Stowers! We met a few months ago at a real estate networking event and have become fast friends since!
In our convo, she shares her story of the major career pivot she made while just giving birth to her first child and trying to survive a pandemic! She was a retail rock star for 16 years of her life but found it was no longer serving her. She started to dip her toe into real estate a few years back and went full time last year leaving behind the security of a bi-weekly pay check, benefits and more.
She's now a full time realtor and crushing it with all of her energy and enthusiasm, wanting to bring a full experience to her clients!
I chatted with this Trial Attorney, mom of 3, baseball-basketball coach and highly successful direct sales team leader while she hid out in the pool house for some privacy!
Her energy jumps right out and it's no surprise she's crushing it!
After falling in love with her first child, she decided to stay at home to be with him, spent some time blogging about mom life, life hacks, style, etc. Along the way had 2 more children and continued on her path to find something that inspired her, a way contribute in a meaningful way to the family in a financial way through direct sales with One Hope, a wine company that is more than just wine.

The owner of 2 shops in the Charlestown section of Boston was gracious enough to sit down with me despite also having a new baby at home!
Amanda shared with me what the past year has been like for her, trying to run her two stores, finding out she was pregnant just before the pandemic (when the store couldn't open and she had to do a lot of flower delivery on her own while being sick the entire time!)
She is lucky enough to have the support of her wonderful husband Jason, her mom, who moved from Florida to help and her dad and sister who've made appearances to help at the stores as well!
I had that chance to speak with this young entrepreneur about how she got started in the Macaron business while just a sophomore in college. It started at home, watching her mom cook/bake.
She shares the story of bringing things back to Boston College where everyone wanted some. So she started to bake and became known as the "Cookie Girl".
Her studies were in Math and Music. Now, out of school, she works in the accounting business, while keeping her side hustle/passion alive at night and on weekends continuing to fill all of the orders!
Check out her company, Solodko, the Ukrainian word for sweet!
Emily's energy just oozes out of her the moment you meet her, not to mention when she starts to show her moves on the dance floor.
She started dancing at the age of 4 and has been brought back to it with this amazing class that is inspiring, inclusive and empowering.
Emily has been able to bring her experience as a yoga instructor into the dance class and create what she calls a more feminine practice. In her words, a way of connecting to your body, she makes it meditative and almost spiritual.
I had the opportunity to take her Beyonce themed class and felt is for days after (in a good way!)
Lauren has spent the last decade working in the Accounting & Finance Industry but her passion lies in the fashion industry. After spending some time getting way out of her comfort zone, traveling and exploring Italy, she was moved to start her own fashion line.
She aims to bring along a sustainable and transparent supply chain while also helping women build their confidence in the workforce. Not letting the pandemic slow her down, she continued to launch a line of accessories.
Entirely self taught, Lauren had no background in sewing or designing. Just a passion and it's clear to see in her work!
