Sometimes, we don’t feel worthy or motivated to help others in their spiritual walk … but today, Pastor Mark Jobe equips us to be that support, no matter what. We’re getting the equivalent of a biblical certification to help others who are struggling spiritually. Sometimes, when we see a friend, family member, or coworker struggling in their walk with God … we want to step in and help, but just don’t know how. Other times, it isn’t a lack of knowledge or faith … but rather a lack of motivation to be the help they need. Perhaps we’ve grown tired or feel too caught up in our own struggles to take the time and energy to deal with someone else’s. And that’s exactly why today’s lesson is such an important message for us, as believers.

Today on Bold Steps with Pastor Mark Jobe … we’ll see how knowing who you are in Christ gives you a sense of purpose and value. As followers of Jesus, we should be actively searching for our God-given purpose and destiny. But if someone doesn’t know who they are … well, then it can be difficult to know the direction to take, or where to look. One of the themes of Mark’s preaching and ministry is that … we shouldn’t be just sitting idly by, waiting for things to happen. We’ll be in 1 Peter chapter 2 and the first point is how Identity speaks to our value.

Today on Bold Steps with Mark Jobe … we’re being reminded not to let fear and anxiety take control and what it means to be courageous. Courage is the mental or moral strength needed to venture on, persevere, and to withstand danger. In the simplest terms, courage is what’s needed to move you forward in your spiritual life—despite your fears, and anxiety, and feeling the need to ignore God’s timing and take control yourself. Over the past few days, we’ve been contrasting the lives of Saul and David, and courage is what separated the destinies of these two men. And we’ve seen that fear causes one to compromise in the waiting room and take on roles that were never meant to be taken.

How many times have you done something seemingly insignificant only to learn later that because of your action … you changed the life of someone else? As we continue our study on Passion, we’re going to be looking at First Samuel, chapter 16. God told Samuel to go to Bethlehem, a seemingly insignificant place … but as Mark explains today, that act came with far reaching consequences … and likewise, when we obey God with the small things … they often turn into big things!
