It has been so long! I am happy to be back, and hopefully, I am here to stay for a long time. I shared why it took me so long to record a podcast episode and what I have been doing. I share some thoughts and feelings I had in the past three months. I share how unsolved trauma can hurt your relationship and yourself. I have built my confidence and self-esteem to not fall into another relationship that is not worth my time. Never try to fill your loneliness with someone because it will not end well for the two people involved. In addition , I am in a dating fast, so feel free to join me!

Putting someone on a pedestal is when someone puts more positive meaning to their partner than one’s positive evaluation of oneself. There are signs and some of the common phrases are “You are too good for me”, You are perfect” and”You complete me”. There are many effects on both people when a partner puts the other on a pedestal. At the end I shared my experience when I went through this with my ex-boyfriend and a person I was seeing.

It has been a long time, but I am back and ready to share more of my life experiences. Today, I focused on how leading and stringing someone along is a mean thing to do to a person. Playing with another human being’s feeling is unfair and cruel to do. Your actions have consequences and hurting others for the sake of not being alone is so mean. Take time to really think about what you want in a relationship before you go seeking for someone.

This episode is a bit more relax and unstructured, but still discusses an important topic. As I mentioned in my last episode, the grieving process is not linear and I believe that it’s the same for the healing process. I listened to a wonderful podcast by Jeanine Amapola called Happy and Healthy, and I talked about some of the points she made in her episode “ How to heal From Heartbreak & Recover from a Breakup”. I mentioned how reflecting on your faults is important, people referring to their exes as crazy is a red flag, having to look at the facts over your feelings, not justifying for bad behaviors, and forgiving is crucial. At the end of the episode, I talk about how I might be ready to date again, and how I have been talking to a guy.

Today’s topic deals with grieving and mourning the loss of a romantic relationship. A person could have played a big part in your life, they could have been your rock, or you might have spent a lot of time with them. Then all of sudden they aren't part of your life anymore and you have to adjust to that. I discuss how the five stages of grief apply in the loss of a romantic relationship. The five stages are denial, anger, bargaining, sadness (in some cases its called depression), and acceptance. I believe to be able to grieve and heal from a break up you have to allow yourself to feel your feelings. I remind you of the idea that you were your own person before they came into your life, and you are your own person after they left. Then at the end of the episode, I also shared my grieving process and where I am at today.

Today, I am going to get back into talking about relationships, specifically break ups. I do not believe that it is easier getting over someone when you break things off than those who break up with you. When you are in the mindset of wanting to end a relationship with someone you love there are many things you have to take into consideration. Love is not enough to stay with someone in a relationship, and I feel like the concept of self worth is important to look at for this idea. It is important to know your self-worth not only for relationships, but for other aspects in life such as your job, friends and in your community. The five stages that help build self-wroth are increasing your self-understanding, boost your self-acceptance, enhance your self-love, recognize your self-worth, and take responsibility for yourself. All of these stages are important to master, but I focused on recognizing your self worth and enhancing your self-love. I shared my own experience in trying to figure out my own self during and after my last relationship.

Self soothing deals with how we calm our bodies when we are overloaded by stress or negative emotions. Once you start realizing you can cope and self soothe yourself then it will be easier to let those unhealthy relationships go because you can rely on yourself. I list some self soothing methods, such as playing soothing music, lighting scented candles or oil, visualizing a calm place or happy memory and focusing on just one thing, and saying coping statements – “I can handle this”, “The feeling will pass”. I have been doing a lot reflecting about who I was in my past relationship, and who I want to be moving forward. I have now come to realize that I need to learn to cope with my negative emotions by myself and not rely on other people.
