In today's episode, Janyre Tromp joined me to discuss writing, editing, and what we love about books. She is so talented and brings out the best in other authors' books and is an amazing writer in her own right. A fun fact I didn't know or had forgotten is that she is also a classically trained musician, so can't listen to classical instrumental music while writing. Enjoy learning more about Janyre and her writing. And when you sign up for her newsletter, you will also receive a free novella from her — it's a great way to try her writing!

Regina Jennings is one of my favorite historical writers. Y'all will so enjoy meeting her. She writes the best historical romances set during the mid to late 1800s. We discussed her Fort Reno series and her new Joplin Chronicles (ala Pinkerton Files), and readers chimed in with their favorites of her books. We all agreed that her humor is one of the elements that keep us coming back time after time. It was such a fun conversation!

In this episode, Carrie Turansky and I discuss her latest book, the British Home Children, and more. It was fun to learn how she picked the Edwardian time period, the types of research she conducts and so much more. You'll love getting to know Carrie and hearing all about what she plans to write next. Let me just say it includes the Lake District in England and hope. Make sure you pick up a copy of Carrie's new book, No Journey too Far.

In this episode, I get to introduce you to my writing friend, Natalie Walters. She has written the Harbored Secrets series, and it was really good. However, she has a brand new book starting a new series coming out in November (which I endorsed) and it was phenomenal! I cannot wait for you to read it! Natalie and I had so much fun chatting about cross country (really cross-ocean) moves, military life, and our mutual love for Joel C. Rosenburg's book!

Do you love a good Gothic novel? Love one that points to truth and is filled with romance and a setting that springs off the page? Then you will love Joanna Davidson Politano's novels. She spins the most wonderful stories, and I'm so glad to introduce you to her.
Joanna is also an Indiana author, who writes in the cracks of life. I love the way she's focused on her family and yet writes the most amazing books.

Tamera Alexander and I have been friends for years, and I love her richly layered Reconstruction novels. When we've traveled to Nashville, I've had to visit some of the plantations that her novels have been set at. They are that real to me. Have you read any of her novels?
Do you love southern fiction? Love a historical novel that sweeps you back in time and firmly plants you in the time and place of the characters? Then you will love this conversation with Tamera Alexander. Tamera writes books set in Colorado and Nashville. Her most recent novel, Colors of Truth, explores the months after the Civil War in Franklin, Tennessee. These novels are richly textured and reflect the best of historical fiction. I hope you enjoy our chat!

Wonder how authors write ensemble casts? What it's like to be a reader who also writes? Lynn H. Blackburn and I talk about how she got the idea for the Dive Team investigation series. We also talk about how books are connected through the ensemble cast...how much readers like it, but also how fun it is for us as writers. I hope you love meeting my friend Lynn and be sure to give her books a try. You can start with Unknown Threat, her book that was released this spring.

Y'all I am so delighted to introduce you to my dear writing friend and mentee Ashley Clark. I have had the pleasure of watching her journey to publication, and she has walked it with grace and grit. She is a southern storyteller who writes romantic women's fiction in delightful split-time novels. You will love her!
"Ashley Clark has such a way with words. Her style just blooms with life and you can practically hear the characters speaking in their distinctive voices in your head as you read. Her passion for the city of Charleston is made abundantly clear in this book and will make you want to book a trip there ASAP." Amazon review of Paint & Nectar.

Kelly Irvin is one of my talented friends who joined me for a conversation about her diverse writing genres: romantic suspense and Amish. In this conversation, Kelly and I discuss the fun and challenges of writing in two different genres at the same time. Kelly also talks about why San Antonio, her adopted hometown, is the setting for her romantic suspense. She also shares some of the research she's done for her Amish books, including going to the locations for things like the bee auction.
