Parents around the country will no doubt be spending a few late nights this week stitching together costumes for Book Week, which marks its 80th anniversary in Australia this year.

But given recent NAPLAN results revealed one-third of school children are not meeting expectations in literacy, are we doing enough to foster a love of books?
